The President of Ain Shams University and the Chairman of the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Education witnessed the launch of the New Beginning Initiative to ensure quality education at Ain Shams University

As part of the state's commitment to enhancing the quality of higher education and developing its system, Ain Shams University witnessed today the launch of the first training event of the “New Beginning for Quality Assurance in Education” initiative, organized by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education under the patronage of the Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly.

In the presence of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Alaa Ashmawy, Chairman of the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Amani Osama Kamel, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Hesham Abdel Nasser, Executive Director of the Initiative, Prof. Miriam Farid Ayad, Director of the Quality Assurance Center at Ain Shams University, and a number of leaders of the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education, deans and vice deans of faculties at Ain Shams University, the Head of the Central Administration for the Sector, Prof. President of the University, the Assistant Secretary General of the University for the Education and Student Sector, directors of quality units at the faculties, and the team of the Quality Assurance Center at the University.

Ain Shams University was selected as the first stop of the initiative, affirming its pioneering role in supporting efforts to improve education quality and enhancing student participation in spreading a culture of quality across Egyptian universities.

The initiative aims to activate the role of Egyptian university students in ensuring the quality of education and promoting a culture of quality through workshops organized by the Authority for students at various universities. These workshops are designed to equip participating students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become ambassadors of quality and leaders of positive change in their academic environment.

In his speech, the university president emphasized that this exceptional initiative embodies an ambitious national vision reflecting the political leadership's deep interest in the quality of education as one of the fundamental pillars of comprehensive and sustainable development. He affirmed that it places students at the center of educational development and believes in their pivotal role as active partners in raising educational standards.

He praised the continuous efforts of the National Authority’s leadership and team in supporting educational institutions, developing accreditation standards, and aligning them with global advancements. He also expressed pride that Ain Shams University was chosen as the launch site for this ambitious initiative, which places greater responsibility on the university to be a model in adhering to standards of quality and excellence, and in working as a team to achieve a high-quality educational environment worthy of students’ aspirations and national ambitions. He affirmed his full support for the initiative and his commitment to its implementation at the university to achieve its intended goals.

He also extended thanks to the university’s Quality Assurance Center, deans, and faculty members for their genuine efforts in translating quality concepts into tangible reality. He concluded by addressing the participating students, stating, "You are the cornerstone of any development, and this initiative is your golden opportunity to actively contribute to the advancement of the educational process."

The president of the National Authority expressed his pleasure at being present at Ain Shams University to launch this student-focused initiative. He affirmed that selecting the university as the starting point reflects confidence in its seriousness in dealing with the quality system and its continuous commitment to improving academic performance.

He clarified that the main goal of the initiative is to spread the culture of quality within the university community, emphasizing that this new beginning focuses on achieving real quality and practical implementation. He stressed that the concept of education quality is based on continuous improvement and development, noting that the student is at the heart of the educational process as its final product. Students must be equipped with the knowledge and skills required for the labor market, in addition to the ability for lifelong self-learning to develop their knowledge and skills over time.

He also discussed the pillars of the quality assurance system, pointing out that it includes the individuals involved in the educational process themselves. The success of this system depends on full partnership among all stakeholders, which should be based on mutual respect and shared responsibility.

The initiative’s executive director expressed his pride in launching the initiative from Ain Shams University, affirming that this choice reflects the institution's distinguished status in the academic sphere and its constant commitment to keeping up with developments and adopting the latest scientific standards. The university represents a model to follow in the pursuit of quality and excellence and has provided valuable support to the initiative.

He explained that the initiative stems from a firm belief that improving education is the fundamental pillar of achieving sustainable development, stressing that this approach is a shared responsibility and a collective commitment. He added that the initiative seeks to bring about a radical shift in how educational quality is assessed and improved, empowering institutions to meet international standards and graduate generations equipped with knowledge and capable of leading the future.

He further noted that this goal can only be achieved through joint efforts and genuine partnerships between the Authority and all types of educational institutions, backed by continuous support from the political leadership that places education among its top priorities.

He concluded by affirming that this initiative marks the beginning of a long journey toward realizing Egypt's vision in education and will effectively contribute to raising graduate standards, preparing them for a dynamic labor market, and enhancing the global competitiveness of Egyptian educational institutions.

In her speech, the Director of the Quality Assurance Center encouraged students to share the experiences and skills they have gained with their peers, while continuously striving for improvement and development to enhance university performance. She emphasized that the initiative reflects a deep belief in students' ability to bring about positive change within their university.

She also expressed her thanks to the Authority, the university president, and the deans for their significant engagement and support for the initiative, affirming that teamwork and productive collaboration between all parties are essential to achieving the initiative’s goals and promoting a culture of quality in the university community.

The day’s activities included several training sessions presented by the initiative’s executive director and the implementation officer, addressing the latest standards for ensuring education quality, methods of applying them in educational institutions, and academic reference standards for each specialization.

The event concluded with the distribution of certificates to participating students, who widely praised the organization and the quality of the training content.
