Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of Ain Shams University, received Prof. Liu Tianda, Vice President of Guangdong Foreign Studies University, and the delegation accompanying him, to enhance cooperation between the two sides.

During the meeting, cooperation relations between Ain Shams University and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies were reviewed since the signing of the cooperation agreement between the two universities in 2017 to establish the Confucius Chapter, which was promoted in 2020 to the Confucius Institute. Since then, the two sides have witnessed many aspects of cooperation in the field of teaching the Chinese language through the Confucius Institute and the Chinese Language Department at the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University and the field of exchange of professors and students, as Guangdong University annually receives many professors and students from the Confucius Institute and the Chinese Language Department at the Faculty of Al-Alsun to participate in Training courses, winter and summer camps, seminars and conferences.

Ain Shams University also receives many teachers from Guangdong University to teach Chinese language programs at Ain Shams University, as well as students from the Faculty of Afro-Asian Studies to study the Arabic language at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Ain Shams University.

Ain Shams University, through the Confucius Institute, organizes the international Chinese language exam 3 times each year in the electronic exam halls at the Faculty of Al-Alsun.

Also during the meeting, the expansion of the areas of academic and research cooperation between the two universities in the disciplines of arts, literature, economics, commerce and law was discussed, as Guangdong University has 72 academic and research programs that suit the academic specializations at Ain Shams University.

Following the meeting, the delegation visited the Confucius Institute and the Faculty of Al-Alsun, and a symposium was held with professors and students of the Confucius Institute and the Chinese Language Department in the conference hall at the Faculty of Al-Alsun.

The meeting was attended by the Chinese side, Prof. Liu Tianda, Vice President of the University and Prof. Chen Anbin, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Languages and Prof. Chen and Peiguan, Dean of the Faculty of International Strategies, and Ms. Lulu, Director of the University’s Office of International Relations.

On the Egyptian side, Prof. Nasser Abdel-Al, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Director of the Confucius Institute at the University, and Prof. Mervat Ali, Chairman of the Chinese Language Department Council. The meeting was also attended by the Educational Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, Mr. Lu Chuncheng and Mrs. Jia Feng.
