Sponsored by Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zein El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs and General Supervision, Major General Hossam El-Sherbiny, Assistant Secretary of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs. The Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector and the Planning and Environmental Development Department organized an awareness seminar on “Stress Management and Mechanisms for Dealing with It” for psychologists and employees of the Directorate of Education in Cairo,”. This was based on the pioneering community role of Ain Shams University and the university administration’s keenness to provide community service to all members of the external community and spread health, cultural, and social awareness.

   
   

The awareness campaigns included several diverse fields, including the social and psychological field through an awareness symposium on “Stress Management and Mechanisms for Dealing with It for Psychologists and Workers at the Directorate of Education in Cairo.” Prof. Mohamed Ahmed Khattab, Head of the Psychology Department at the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Rasha Adel Abdel Aziz, Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Girls, in the presence of Dr. Azza Suleiman Muhammad, General Director of Psychological Education at the Directorate of Education in Cairo, Mrs. Abeer Abdel-Al Ibrahim, Director of the Department of Planning and Environmental Development at Ain Shams University, Mrs. Amani Abdel Aziz Hammam, Senior Specialist in Planning Department, Prof. Yasmine Mohamed, Senior Planning Department Specialist, Prof. Osama, Director of Administrative Affairs at the Directorate of Education in Cairo, and a group of psychologists and social workers in the Directorate.

   
   

Prof. Mohamed Khattab pointed out the concept of stress and its serious impact on the individual and group within society, especially the family. Depression develops in children with the onset of pregnancy in mothers, and a lot of stress negatively affects the body and makes them susceptible to malignant cancerous diseases.

There are many individuals within society who do not use the right side of the brain, which is responsible for creativity and development, while the left side is concerned with academic education through memorization and the usual daily routine of human life.

In conclusion, he pointed out the importance of teamwork because it is the basis for progress, advancement, and support within society.

Prof. Rasha Adel discussed the definition of precious stress and its abundance that changes a person from a cheerful and funny person to a block of steel. She presented the silent symptoms of psychological stress and the extent of its impact on the individual and the deterioration that appears in the form of pimples, toothache, desire to eat sugars, indigestion, and recurring headaches. Psychological stress affects the brain and lack of stress. Sleep and the occurrence of insomnia and pointed out the effects of long-term stress and its impact on human life, and a stressed person is more susceptible to many diseases, including influenza, diabetes, and heart attacks.

She offered some advice to individuals, including setting priorities, expressing emotions and feelings, helping people, paying attention to providing basic needs, staying away from suspicion and mistrust of everyone, looking for a work environment that helps focus, and eating healthy food.

In conclusion, the Cairo Directorate of Education honored several faculty staff participating in the symposium in appreciation of the efforts of the university and the community service and environmental development affairs sector.
