Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, received Professor Dr. Amr Al-Hajj, Chairman of the Atomic Energy Authority, and a scientific delegation from the Authority. The meeting began with Prof. Amr Al-Hajj congratulating Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, on the occasion of assuming the presidency of the university, stressed the importance of scientific and academic cooperation with Ain Shams University, one of the most prestigious Egyptian universities.

The two sides then reviewed what had been implemented since the signing of the cooperation agreement between the two sides from January 2023 until now, which included holding several meetings and workshops between the two sides, which resulted in the formulation of some aspects of cooperation in the areas of research programs for postgraduate studies, including professional master’s degrees in chemistry and radiation physics, the Atomic Energy Authority also participated in the Ain Shams University conference with a special session on the peaceful uses of atomic energy. Cooperation activities also included the participation of university students in the summer training program implemented by the Atomic Energy Authority for Egyptian university students.

   
   
   

For his part, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, affirmed his continued support for cooperation activities with the Atomic Energy Authority and the university’s keenness to strengthen this cooperation and that he will provide all the support required to activate cooperation activities between the two sides. Especially since this cooperation represents a new model for cooperation between research centers and universities, it also represents a strategic partnership that contributes to the advancement of scientific research and technological development, looking forward to opening new horizons for innovation and progress through this cooperation.

For his part, Prof. Amr Al-Hajj, Chairman of the Atomic Energy Authority, confirmed that the Authority is pleased to move forward in cooperation activities with the university, especially since the Authority has a unique scientific school in the fields of peaceful uses of atomic energy in various fields, including medicine, agriculture, industry, health, and others. It hopes to open and implement new areas of research and applied activities in addition to what has been implemented, especially in the areas of implementing specialized programs for master’s and diplomas, with the participation and issuance of certificates accredited by both parties in the unique specializations in the fields of radiological and nuclear sciences and their various applications.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed to form a higher committee to manage, activate and supervise the implementation of the terms of the agreement signed between the two sides, headed by Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Environmental Affairs and Community Service, as a representative of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Hassan Saleh, Head of the Industrial Irradiation Division of the Atomic Energy Authority, as a representative from the Atomic Energy Authority and membership of a working group from both sides. The first step for this committee is to prepare a strategy and a joint research plan for cooperation between the two sides that accurately explains the areas of cooperation during the coming period, while setting a timetable for its implementation, which will include reviewing the professional programs proposed to be implemented and approved by both sides. It includes the professional program for chemistry and radiation physics at the Faculty of Science, as well as the proposed professional master’s degree in the field of radiation pharmacy in cooperation with the Faculty of Pharmacy, and the radiation emergency program in cooperation with the Faculty of Medicine, any other activities will also be studied by the committee, it was also emphasized that the committee would develop a complete vision and implementation plans that include the activities, the destination of implementation, and the specific time.

The meeting was attended by Ain Shams University: Prof. Ghada Farouk - Vice President of the University for Environmental Affairs and Community Service, Prof. Amani Osama - Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Mohamed Raja Satouhi - Dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Hatem Mohamed Abdullah - Professor of Oncology, Prof. Adel Al-Sabbagh - Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Nabil Al-Faramawi, Professor of Radiological and Nuclear Physics at the Faculty of Science.

On the part of the Atomic Energy Authority, a delegation consisting of: Prof. Hassan Saleh, Head of the Industrial Irradiation Division, Prof. Hanan Mohamed Diab, Head of the Radiation Control Division, Prof. Mohamed Raja Hamed Belboul - Deputy Director of the Radiological Research Division, Prof. Sherif El Gohary - Head of the Sites and Environment Department, participated. , Prof. Amani Ismail Refaat - Head of the Department of Polymer Chemistry, Prof. Mustafa Mohamed Hamed, Head of the Department of Analytical Chemistry, Prof. Mohamed Yahya Al-Bahrawy, Professor of Solid State Physics, Prof. Tamer Saqr - Professor of Nuclear Pharmacy, and Dr. Noha Mohamed Deghaidy, Assistant Professor in the Department of Polymer Chemistry.
