The “Friends” team at the Faculty of Pharmacy, at Ain Shams University, won third place in the competition for the best awareness video on the rational use of antimicrobials, as part of the Egyptian Medicine Authority’s awareness activities to celebrate the World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week, which is celebrated every year from [18 to 24]. November], and the efforts made by the Authority to work to spread the rational use of antimicrobials.

The team's participation came under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Amani Kamel, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, and Prof. Rehab Othman, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs.

Under the supervision of Prof. Asst. Dr. Sarah Ibrahim Saleh, Head of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the Faculty of Pharmacy, under the administrative supervision of Professor Ibrahim Saeed, Assistant Secretary of the University for Education and Student Affairs.

Dr. Ayman Al-Khatib, Vice President of the Egyptian Medicines Authority, honored the students of pharmacy faculties from Egyptian universities who won the competition for the best awareness video under the title (Stay Aware...No Unnecessary Antibiotics), which aims to spread awareness about the rational use of antimicrobials to prevent the emergence of resistant strains, in the presence of Dr. Rasha Ziadeh, Assistant President of the Egyptian Medicines Authority for Technical and Capacity Development Affairs, and Dr. Sherine Abdel Gawad, Head of the Central Administration for Pharmaceutical Care.

The third place winner was the “Friends” team from the Faculty of Pharmacy, at Ain Shams University, in the fifth level, Pharm-D, and they are Reham Mohsen, Sarah Rashad, Nour Essam, Ivana Ehab, Maryam Jumaa, and Marine Majed.

The ceremony was witnessed by university deans, faculty supervisors, heads of central departments at the Egyptian Medicines Authority, and the team of the sponsoring company, “Eva Pharma.”

It is noteworthy that 47 short awareness videos were submitted for the competition, including individual entries and work teams from 17 Egyptian universities, which were prepared based on reliable scientific references and under academic supervision. The videos were distinguished by containing awareness material in the simple Arabic language. The videos were evaluated by a jury of members of the General Administration of Pharmaceutical and Drug Practices team of the Central Administration of Pharmaceutical Care at the Egyptian Medicines Authority.
