The Department of Neurology and Psychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine, at Ain Shams University, in collaboration with the Okasha Center for Psychiatry, is organizing the 20th International Conference on Psychiatry, the 8th International Conference on Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the 5th International Conference on Addiction and Dual Diagnosis Psychiatry, and the 2nd International Conference on Women's Psychiatry from May 27-29, under the theme "Global Adversity and Psychiatry."

The conference is held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Ali Mohamed El-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Prof. Ahmed Okasha, Founder of the Okasha Center for Psychiatry and Advisor to the President of the Republic for Mental Health and Community Integration; and Prof. Mustafa Kamel Ismail, Chairman of the Continuing Professional Development Committee.

The conference is chaired by Prof. Tarek Okasha, Head of the Department of Neurology and Psychiatry and Director of the Dr. Okasha Center at Ain Shams University Hospitals. The honorary presidency of the conference is held by Prof. Zeinab Bushra, Founder of the Child Psychiatry Research Unit, and Prof. Afaf Hamed Khalil, Professor of Psychiatry and Conference Director.

The conference consists of three tracks, each containing several sessions over the two days. The first track covers general psychiatry, the second discusses child psychiatry, and the third addresses general psychiatry and addiction.

In addition to the workshops held at the Prof. Ahmed Okasha Center on the sidelines of the conference, which address the latest developments in the treatment of psychological disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, and neurotic disorders such as panic and obsessive-compulsive disorder, in addition to workshops that discuss leadership skills and how to choose specializations, and how global events affect mental health, psychiatry, and mental patients, such as climate change, political problems, wars, and economic problems, which affect the quality of a person’s life and performance at work, and consider how to deal with these events and improve the quality of the patient’s mental health and life.
