The Endemic diseases: past achievements and future challenges... Symposium at the Faculty of Medicine

The Endemic Diseases Department at the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University, in cooperation with the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector, organized a symposium to raise awareness of the health, political and economic impacts of endemic diseases and the role of the Endemic Diseases Department at the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University in combating endemic diseases in Egypt and Africa and the local and international pioneering role of the Endemic Diseases Department in Education, treatment and research, under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain Al-Abedeen, President of the University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, in the presence of Prof. Hala Suwaid, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Amani Ahmed Ibrahim, Head of the Endemic Diseases Department and a group of professors in the Endemic Diseases Department.

During the symposium which held during the celebration of World Endemic Diseases Day, Prof. Mohamed Fawzi Montaser, Professor of Endemic Diseases and former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, talked about the history and origins of the Endemic Diseases Department at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, and the effective role that the department plays in all fields.

As pointed out by Prof. Reda El-Wakil, Professor of Endemic Diseases and Permanent Secretary of the African-Middle Eastern Gastroenterology Association, highlighted the pioneering role of the Department of Endemic Diseases at Ain Shams Medicine at the African level.

Prof. Hassan Hamdi, Professor of Endemic Diseases, former head of the department, and symposium coordinator, highlighted the local and international pioneering role of the Department of Endemic Diseases in education, treatment, research, and participation in all events.

The symposium also included an introduction to some endemic and emerging diseases, the various available vaccinations, and ways to prevent them.
