“Your health is important to us” a symposium at the Faculty of Pharmacy in cooperation with the Women’s Support and Anti-Violence Unit and the Cairo Platinum Rotary Club

Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, the Women’s Support and Anti-Violence Unit, in cooperation with the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Cairo Platinum Rotary Club, organized a symposium entitled “Your health is important to us,” followed by a workshop on “Overcoming psychological stress with art therapy.”

Prof. Hind Al-Hilali, Director of the Women’s Support and Anti-Violence Unit, explained the unit’s role in supporting male and female students to create a safe educational environment on campus and learning about the training courses and workshops offered by the unit to develop female students’ psychological and physical abilities and overcome crises and negative feelings resulting from their exposure to violence and bullying by providing ways to protect for male and female students, whether inside or outside the university campus and conducting convoys and health awareness campaigns for students to learn about common and malignant diseases such as tumors, how to detect the disease and ways of protection through specialists, consultants, and lecturers.

         
   
         

Prof. Amal El-Sisi, Professor of Pediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine, at Cairo University, and Project Manager at Women’s Programs, Protary, Arab Republic of Egypt, indicated how to raise awareness about cervical cancer and ways to prevent it.

Dr. Mustafa Nagy, Lecturer of Surgical Oncology and Head of the Early Tumor Detection Clinic, noted the role of the Ain Shams University Clinic for Early Detection of Breast Cancer.

Dr. Nada Mohamed Mahmoud, Assistant Professor of Pharmacology, at the Faculty of Pharmacy, at Ain Shams University, explained the role of medicinal plants in cancer prevention.

         
   
         

In conclusion, the symposium was followed by a workshop on managing psychological stress using art therapy. The workshop was presented by Mrs. Amani Abdel Aal, a clinical psychologist and training consultant at the Women’s Support and Anti-Violence Unit at Ain Shams University, in cooperation with Prof. Amani Osama Kamel, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Rehab Othman Ahmed, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Rola Milad, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, under the supervision and coordination of Prof. Hind Al-Hilali, Director of the Women’s Support and Anti-Violence Unit, in the presence of Prof. Amal El-Sisi, Professor of Pediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, Director of Projects at Women’s Programs, Protary, Arab Republic of Egypt, Dr. Nada Mohamed Mahmoud, Assistant Professor of Pharmacology, Faculty of Pharmacy, at Ain Shams University, Dr. Mustafa Naji, lecturer of oncology surgery and head of the early tumor detection clinic, Mrs. Amani Sayed Abdel-Al is a clinical psychologist at the unit and a group of faculty staff, teaching assistants, administrative staff, and students at the faculty.
