Within the framework of the efforts of the education sector and students at Ain Shams University to improve the health of its employees and provide distinguished service to students, Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud (Vice President of Ain Shams University for Education and Student Affairs) discussed a PhD thesis entitled “Occupational Health Risks for Workers in University dormitories Kitchens at Ain Shams University (an educational interventional study in the field of health)" by student Abeer Abdel Salam, assistant lecturer in the Department of Community, Environmental and Industrial Medicine, under the supervision of Prof. Samia Ismail Eldamaty and Prof. Mona Abdel-Al-Zahri and Prof. Walid Salah El-Din Ahmed and Prof. Asst. Ghada Osama Wasef.

And Prof. Dalia Ismail Attia, Professor of Occupational at the Faculty of Medicine, at Cairo University, was an external examiner, on Monday, May 8, 2023. The aim of the study was to design and implement a health education program for workers in university dormitories kitchens regarding occupational health hazards in kitchens and to describe the kitchen environment in relation to some safety standards.

The study praised the efforts made in the field of feeding students and protecting workers in the nutrition sector.

The study recommended the involvement of the Occupational Medicine Clinic in the Department of Community and Environmental Medicine and Industrial Medicine in following up and caring for the health of workers in the kitchens of university dormitories through the Health and Food Safety Committee and the care of workers in the nutrition sector.

For her part, Prof. Mona Abdel Aal for praised the support provided by the education sector and students to complete this study.
