The Faculty of Arts celebrates the fourth centenary of the birth of the French writer "Molière"

Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Hanan Kamel Metwally, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Arts Today, the Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University celebrated via video conference technology in the faculty conference the fourth centenary of the birth of the tragic writer and novelist "Molière", the most famous among Western writers in that period (Molière - Paris, January 15, 1622 – Paris, February 17, 1673); He is a French comedian, poet, actor, lawyer, theater director and dramaturge.

He is considered one of the most important masters of comics in the history of European theatrical art, and the founder of "high comedy." He acted about 95 plays; Of these, 31 are his authors, and his plays are distinguished by their skill in portraying characters, especially in forming situations and the ability to make them laugh. His literary works are taught in the Faculty of the French Language Department at all academic levels. The symposium was hosted by video conference, Professor Dr. George Forestier, Professor of French Literature and Classical Theater Studies at the Sorbonne.

         
   
         

The seminar was moderated by Dr. Hoda Wasfi, professor of French literature, full-time department, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Hoda Abaza, a full-time professor of French literature, and it was prepared and coordinated by Dr. Nadia Shama, assistant professor in the department, and the celebration covered a symposium entitled: Facts and Myths in the Life of Molière, and Professor Georges Forestier gave a historical presentation of Molière’s life and his writings and literary writings as a prominent theatrical writer and novelist. He also pointed out the need to reconsider the history of literature and the importance of primary and original documents in re-evaluating Literature and reconsideration, as he spoke that in the period of Molière and in the period until the beginning of the nineteenth century, the writer did not preserve the original text of the literary work and the stages of its modification by addition, deletion or revision, which led to the circulation of a number of legends and myths regarding the death of Molière on stage, the research proved his death due to a sudden illness and in his home, to other myths and conflicting accounts about many situations in his life.
