The Vice President of Ain Shams University for Education and Students honors the students of the Faculty of Engineering who won local and international competitions

Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Education and Student Affairs, at the Network and Information Technology Center, honored the students of the Faculty of Engineering, the winners in several competitions at the international and local levels, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Ghada Farouk, Acting Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Omar Al-Husseini, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Abdul Fattah Saoud Ali is pleased to honor the students and to participate in many competitions that represent the university internationally and locally, praising the spirit of teamwork that appeared in the winning teams, wishing that the team spirit would prevail among students and future generations.

He added that it is necessary for students to enter many competitions and competitions to increase the base of practice to gain experience and exchange knowledge, stressing the need for a special team to develop a database for the competitions that were held and that will be held in the Faculty of Engineering and all university Facultys to preserve the intellectual property rights of any idea and creator, as well as knowing the obstacles that Students and researchers may encounter.

Prof. Dr. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, indicated that the existence and continuity of these competitions and the fact that university students obtain the highest positions in them confirms the role and position of the university among universities, wishing for more progress and innovation with the need to implement intellectual property rights that guarantee the rights of every creator and thinker.

Prof. Dr. Omar Al-Husseini said that honoring the students at the Faculty of Engineering today reflects the efficiency and excellence of its students, as they have been trained on many skills and experiences that are commensurate with the needs of the labor market, wishing further progress and excellence for the students of the Faculty of Engineering.

It is noteworthy that the Faculty of Engineering team that won first place in the competition organized by the Youth Leaders Foundation under the supervision of concrete plus company was honored to prepare designs for facilities in the Administrative Capital. Waterfalls, fountains, aesthetic architectural installations, green walls and different types of plants, in addition to the attractive lighting and the pyramidal shape of the land, and the LRT passes through it, and for its location, it is located at the intersection of Road 4 with the southern axis of Bin Zayed, in front of the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ and near the mosques of Egypt and Al-Fattah Al-Alim and GIU University and the CBD district, which includes the iconic tower, give the square a great deal of importance.

33 teams of engineering students from different universities of the republic participated in the competition, from different departments, architectural, civil, mechanical, and electrical.

Among more than 250 students, the team of the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University succeeded in excelling and winning the competition, participating with new and different ideas that impressed everyone who participated in the competition and those in charge of it, which will be implemented in the implementation of the project.

The ASU RACING TEAM was also honored and won fourth place in the Shell ECO Marathon competition. The team managed to win first place in Egypt and the Middle East, second place in Africa and Europe, and finally fourth place in the world.

A team from the Faculty of Engineering was also honored in a competition entitled: Carbon Neutral Renewable Energy Engineering Technology, where Le Pen's workshop at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University received a request from the People's Republic of China to participate in the global competition.

Teams were assigned to compete in the competition, which was held during the months of June and July 2022, in which more than 8 countries that own Le Pen workshops from Asia and Africa participated.

The competition was held in an online system with the Chinese side, and the two teams exploited the equipment of Le Pen's workshop, which contains new and renewable energy equipment, and the first team won the gold medal in the competition.

The team of the College of Engineering in the Department of Mechanical Power Engineering was also honored and the third-place winner in the competition ASHRAE, which is held every year among many international universities.

The team specifically participated in the ASHRAE HVAC SYSTEM SELECTION competition, which requires several goals, including the use of renewable energy to reduce harmful emissions resulting from the use of fossil fuels, achieving the concept of "low energy building or zero energy building", in addition to achieving the principle of sustainability with the lowest price during operation for 50 years.

Ain Shams engineering team designed and selected three cooling and air conditioning systems for an educational building in Sydney, Australia, to choose the most efficient among them. The team decided to design several systems powered by new and renewable energy. The first system was "VRF", as for the second system, the choice was made on the principle of absorption cooling using ABSORPTION CHILLER, and for the third system, "AIR COOLED CHILLER". To achieve the requirement of renewable energy, solar energy and biomass were used to supply the three systems with energy. The first system works with 55% of solar energy, the second works with 91% of solar energy and biofuels, and the third works with 61% of solar energy.

By achieving all the above, the building is expected to achieve a "Platinum" rating according to the US Green Building Council's LEED "LEADERSHIP IN ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN" classification.

The team won first place at the local levels "Egypt" and regionally "Africa and Asia" and third place at the global level.
