The President of Ain Shams University participates in the Fulbright Egypt Program for Egyptian University Leaders

Under the patronage of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Fulbright Board Chair and Deputy Minister of Higher Education, and in the presence of the US Ambassador to Egypt, Mr. Jonathan Quinn, and Fulbright Board members: Ms. Lauren Lovelace, Cultural Counselor at the US Embassy in Cairo, and Dr. Haitham Hamza, Head of Central Missions at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Raymond Miller, co-founder of Raafat Miller Consulting, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, participated in the Fulbright Egypt Program for Egyptian Universities Leaders, in the presence of 25 university presidents and 6 vice presidents representing all public universities in Egypt and the new private universities, Dr. Yasser Refaat, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Hisham Farouk, Assistant Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Anwar Ismail, Assistant Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Walaa Sheta, Head of the Science and Technological Development Fund, Dr. Muhammad Al-Sharkawy, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Muhammad Hashem, head of the National Research Center.

The discussion was led by Mr. Omar Blake, CEO of U3 Advisors and formerly Senior Vice President of Facilities and Real Estate at the University of Pennsylvania. During his tenure the University invested in a real estate project that has resulted in the development of the campus and surrounding community.

Blake works with university presidents, trustees, philanthropic leaders, government officials, and community organizations to unlock higher education, health care, and other nonprofits to develop themselves and their communities. In addition, Blake has overseen the development of two Detroit neighborhoods, Midtown and Mac Nichols Corridor, and the Memphis area Medical Center, College Park, Maryland, where the University of Maryland is based, and the South Side Chicago area, where the University of Chicago is based.

It is worth noting that the Fulbright Commission Egypt was established in 1949 at the initiative of former Senator J. William Fulbright, whose vision was "to achieve greater knowledge, greater awareness, and greater compassion for world affairs." The Fulbright Commission Egypt is one of the largest and oldest organizations in the Middle East, and it has provided scholarships and scholarships to more than 7,000 Egyptian researchers and 1,000 American researchers over the past 70 years.

Dr. Maggie Nassif, Executive Director of the Commission, and the Fulbright team welcomed the distinguished guests, heads of public and private universities.
