A Celebration of the Activation of the Electronic Testing Labs at the Faculty of Arts

Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Rami Maher Sadek Ghali, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Hanan Kamel Metwally, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and under the supervision of Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim Hassan, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and in the presence of Prof. Hanan Salem, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, the Faculty of Arts organized a special celebration marking the activation of the electronic testing labs, attended by a distinguished group of university leaders and partners in the digital transformation and education development system.

The event was attended by Prof. Sahar Ahmed Dweidar, Executive Director of the Center for Educational Strategy Development and Research at Ain Shams University, Dr. Mahmoud Fayez Ahmed, Director of the University Network and Information Technology Center, Dr. Magdy Shaaban, Director of the University’s Electronic Examinations Unit and Director of the Measurement and Evaluation Unit at the Faculty of Education, in addition to Dr. Sayed Abdallah, Director of the Measurement and Evaluation Unit at the Faculty of Arts.

The celebration began with an extensive student meeting that brought together university leaders and several faculty students. Prof. Hanan Kamel Metwally, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, opened the event with a speech emphasizing that the faculty places students at the heart of the development process and continuously strives to provide a modern educational environment that combines academic knowledge with advanced technology.

The Dean confirmed that the activation of the electronic testing labs represented a long-awaited step and described the project as “a dream that has become reality” after a long journey of work, planning, and preparation. She noted that reaching this stage was not an individual effort, but rather the result of institutional collaboration and true integration among the university’s various sectors.

         
   
         

She explained that the Center for Educational Strategy Development and Research, in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications, provided significant support to the faculty by donating 860 laptop computers designated for electronic testing, contributing to the establishment of a strong technological foundation supporting the digital examination system.

She also noted that the Network and Information Technology Center assumed responsibility for activating and technically preparing the computers, while ensuring the readiness of the technological infrastructure and networks to guarantee stable and secure operation of the electronic testing system.

In addition, she highlighted the pivotal role played by the Measurement and Evaluation Center in training the faculty’s measurement and evaluation team and organizing specialized workshops that enhanced the readiness of human resources and equipped them with the expertise necessary to efficiently manage the system.

The Dean expressed her gratitude to all partners of success, stressing that the achievement was made possible through their cooperation and continuous support. She stated: “Thanks to their cooperation and support for the faculty, we have reached this stage,” emphasizing that institutional teamwork and integration among different departments are the true path toward success and sustainability.

For her part, Prof. Sahar Ahmed Dweidar stressed that supporting digital transformation in faculties is no longer a luxury, but rather a strategic necessity for developing the educational process. She noted that the Faculty of Arts presented a serious model in benefiting from available resources and utilizing them to serve students.

Dr. Mahmoud Fayez Ahmed also explained that the success of the electronic examination system fundamentally depends on the readiness of the infrastructure and the efficiency of technical operation, affirming that cooperation between the Faculty and the Network Center contributed to establishing a stable and secure technological system.

Dr. Magdy Shaaban emphasized that building a successful electronic examination system depends not only on devices and equipment, but also on preparing and qualifying human resources. He pointed out that continuous training and workshops are essential pillars for ensuring the quality of implementation and the sustainability of development.

The meeting also included a direct dialogue with students, during which faculty and university leaders listened to their opinions regarding the electronic examination experience and the readiness of the labs and technological infrastructure. Students expressed their satisfaction with the development of the labs and electronic halls, affirming that this step provides a more organized, fair, and efficient examination experience.

         
   
         

In his speech, Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim Hassan, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, stated that equipping the electronic testing labs was the result of precise coordination and continuous work among the various departments concerned within both the university and the Faculty, with the aim of building an integrated system worthy of the Faculty of Arts students and keeping pace with the development witnessed by Ain Shams University.

In a well-deserved gesture, Prof. Hanan Kamel Metwally honored the guests in appreciation of their role in supporting the digital development, measurement, and evaluation system. Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim Hassan, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Sayed Abdallah, Director of the Faculty’s Measurement and Evaluation Unit, were also honored in recognition of their efforts in supervising the preparation and operation of the labs and the development of the examination system.

The event concluded with an inspection tour of the electronic testing labs and equipped halls, including Mahdy Allam Hall, Raafat Abdel Hamid Hall, Gharbal Hall, in addition to the Faculty Council Hall, to ensure the readiness of the infrastructure, technical equipment, computer efficiency, internet networks, and operating systems.

This celebration comes within the framework of the Faculty of Arts’ efforts at Ain Shams University to strengthen its position within the smart faculties system and promote the culture of digital transformation, in line with the university’s strategy and the vision of the Egyptian state for the development of higher education and the establishment of more modern and sustainable universities.
