The 12th African University Games “Cairo 2026” conclude this evening, following Egypt’s successful hosting of the event from September 8 to 16, with the participation of 18 countries, 82 universities, and more than 2,000 participants.

The success of the Games was the result of cooperation and coordination among the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the African University Sports Federation, the Egyptian University Sports Federation, as well as the various committees and entities involved in organizing the event.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research affirmed that Egypt’s hosting of this major African sporting event reflects its commitment to supporting university sports, strengthening cooperation between Egyptian universities and their counterparts across the African continent, and building further bridges of communication among university students.

The Games featured highly competitive events for male and female students in a vibrant sporting atmosphere that showcased the wealth of talent and youthful potential across the African continent, while reinforcing the values of fair competition, cooperation, and friendship among African youth.
