The Graduate Studies and Research Sector at Ain Shams University is organizing a specialized workshop titled “AI for Researchers: LeapSpace and Elsevier AI Policies” under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of the University, and Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research. The workshop will be held on Sunday, April 5, at 10:00 a.m., at the Grand Conference Hall, Faculty of Pharmacy.
The session will be delivered by Eng. Khaled Shaalan, Academic and Government Partnerships Account Manager for the Middle East and Africa at Elsevier.
The workshop aims to introduce the latest applications and technologies of artificial intelligence in supporting researchers and enhancing research efficiency. It will cover several key topics, including responsible AI for researchers and its associated challenges, the role of AI in Scopus in accelerating scientific discovery, and an overview of the LeapSpace platform, its core data, functionalities, and how to generate in-depth reports using advanced search features.
In addition, the workshop will highlight opportunities for research collaboration and funding through the platform, discuss the future development of LeapSpace, and address ethical considerations related to the use of AI in scientific research and academic publishing.
Further discussions will extend to topics related to scholarly publishing, including Scopus journal rankings, selecting appropriate journals for publication, different publishing models, and policies for publication fee waivers at Elsevier.
This initiative comes as part of the university’s commitment to supporting scientific research and encouraging faculty members and researchers to produce high-quality research that serves societal needs and contributes to improving the university’s academic ranking.
