The activities of the Children's University at the Faculty of Computer and Information Science, Ain Shams University

The Faculty of Computer and Information Science at Ain Shams University received a delegation from the Children's University, as part of the events organized by Ain Shams University during the period from 5 to 17 February 2022, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Saqr, President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President of Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Cooperation Sector at Ain Shams University, Dr. Noha Al-Rafei, Coordinator of the Child University at Ain Shams University and Deputy Director of the Grants and Projects Department, and Dr. Gina Elfeki, Executive Director of the Program, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Nagwa Badr, Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Science at Ain Shams University, and Prof. Dr. Tamer Mostafa, Vice Dean of Community Service and Environmental Development

The faculty receives 160 children over the course of Tuesday and Wednesday, divided into two groups, with ages ranging from 9 to 11 years.

         
   
         

Prof. Dr. Nagwa Badr, Dean of the Faculty, stressed the faculty’s keenness and interest in the activities of the Children’s University and providing all means of support for the events, believing in the importance of its influential role in Egypt’s future and achieving its vision for 2030.

She added that children will be introduced to the faculty and its various departments, and models for faculty graduates who have joined international companies such as Microsoft, Google and Amazon will be presented. They will also be introduced to artificial intelligence and its various fields and computer science in various fields.

   
   

Prof. Dr. Tamer Mostafa, Vice Dean of Community Service and Environmental Development, explained that there is a working team that includes a group of faculty staff and the faculty’s assistant staff, who will explain lectures dealing with simplified information on computer science and its various applications and a simplified explanation of the idea of artificial intelligence, followed by a visit to some college labs, including a software lab where the Explain the C programming language and give children the opportunity to write simple programs and explain the importance of programming languages and explain their different uses, then move to an electronics lab and conduct a set of electrical circuits in front of the children and use them.
