Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, and under the supervision of Prof. Yomna Safwat, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Prof. Hend El-Helaly, Executive Director of the Women’s Support and Anti-Violence Unit at the university, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, in cooperation with the Women’s Support and Anti-Violence Unit, organized an awareness seminar entitled “Stress Management and Psychological Well-being.”
The event was attended by a distinguished group of faculty members, teaching assistants, and a large number of students and staff.
The seminar came within Ain Shams University’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the role of women within the university community, raising awareness of women’s empowerment and protection from all forms of violence or discrimination, in line with Egypt’s national strategy for human development and women’s empowerment across all sectors.
The session began with welcoming remarks by Prof. Yomna Safwat, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, who emphasized the faculty’s strong commitment to supporting and empowering women, acknowledging their vital role in achieving sustainable development.
She added that the Faculty of Al-Alsun strives through its activities to foster an inclusive and respectful academic environment, highlighting the importance of psychological and social awareness as key factors in protecting women from stress and emotional abuse.

In her address, Prof. Hend El-Helaly, Head of the Women’s Support and Anti-Violence Unit at Ain Shams University, stated that the unit is one of the university’s main mechanisms for supporting and empowering women, providing a safe, violence-free, and discrimination-free environment.
She explained that the unit offers psychological, social, and legal support to students, staff, and faculty members who may face unfair practices, in addition to organizing training programs, workshops, and awareness seminars aimed at promoting equality and empowering women intellectually, professionally, and psychologically.
She also noted that the unit collaborates with various faculties, the National Council for Women, and other relevant state bodies to ensure an effective response to any cases requiring intervention, asserting that Ain Shams University has become a model in implementing comprehensive systems for the protection of women within educational institutions.
As part of the seminar, Ms. Amani Abdel Aal conducted an interactive workshop titled “Ways to Maintain Psychological Well-being,” which discussed key methods to help women achieve emotional balance and manage daily and academic pressures, including time management skills, stress control, breathing and relaxation techniques, and the importance of social support in maintaining mental health.
The workshop also included practical activities in which students participated enthusiastically, designed to promote positive thinking and self-confidence.
In conclusion, Prof. Hend El-Helaly emphasized the importance of continuing collaboration between the Women’s Support Unit and the various faculties of Ain Shams University to implement more initiatives that strengthen the culture of psychological safety and genuine empowerment for women within the university community.
Prof. Yomna Safwat also extended her thanks to the organizing team, affirming that the Faculty of Al-Alsun will continue to lead initiatives that build positive student awareness and reinforce the values of equality, respect, and active community participation.
