Overview

Ain Shams National University was established by Presidential Decree No. (246) of 2025 as a non-profit national institution dedicated to excellence in education and scientific research, with full support from the state.

The university is strategically located at the entrance of the New Administrative Capital on the Ain Sokhna Road, spanning an area of approximately 192 acres.

In 2021, Prof. Mahmoud El-Metini, former President of Ain Shams University, signed a cooperation protocol with Major General Ihab El-Far, Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, to establish Ain Shams National University at the gateway of the New Administrative Capital. The total project value was set at EGP 18 billion, to be implemented over three phases on a 192-acre site.

         
   
         

Faculties and Academic Programs

Ain Shams National University offers a growing portfolio of academic programs aligned with global trends and national development priorities. Among the officially announced programs are:

Faculty of Medicine: Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBCh).

Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences & Artificial Intelligence: Programs include Data Science and Analytics, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence.

Faculty of Business: Featuring innovative tracks such as *Financial Technology (FinTech) and Digital Marketing.

Faculty of Engineering: Offers a diverse selection of cutting-edge programs, including:

According to the Supreme Council of National Universities, the officially approved faculties at national universities also include Engineering, Computer and Information Sciences, Business, Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Law, Science, Agriculture, Languages and Humanities, and Mass Communication.

Admissions and Application Process

The university has announced the opening of its online application portal for preliminary admission from Wednesday, August 27, 2025, until Thursday, September 4, 2025, for initial acceptance into the following faculties: Medicine, Engineering, Computer and Information Sciences & Artificial Intelligence, and Business.

The official announcement emphasized that any advertisements or information shared via social media are not valid unless issued through official university channels.

Application Steps

For students who have previously registered: an email will be sent to them containing a link to complete their information and upload the required documents via nasu.edu.eg

For new applicants: they must visit the application link https://nasu.edu.eg

to enter their basic information, then complete the application and upload the necessary documents.

If preliminary admission is granted, the student will receive an email specifying the required tuition fees and the original documents to be submitted.

Administrative Steps

Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, issued a decision assigning Mr. Samir Othman Abdel Nasser Sayed to serve as Acting Secretary General of Ain Shams National University, effective August 19, 2025, for a period of one year.

Partnerships

In a televised interview on the “In the University” program, the President of Ain Shams University announced that Ain Shams National University was constructed along the Ain Sokhna Road, behind the New Administrative Capital, spanning 192 acres and comprising 35 buildings.

He confirmed that official agreements have already been signed with the University of Exeter, University of Essex, and University of East London, with more partnerships to follow soon.

He added that academic operations at Ain Shams National University will begin in the 2025/2026 academic year, and that work is currently underway to finalize regulations and secure the necessary approvals.

Prof. Mohamed Diaa reaffirmed the university’s commitment to continuing its educational, research, and community service mission, positioning itself as a beacon of knowledge and innovation and a driver of progress in Egypt and the region.

He emphasized that Ain Shams National University prioritizes the development of students' character and equipping them with the skills needed to become future leaders and agents of change in their communities, stating: "Ain Shams National University is not just an educational institution, but an integral part of the social fabric, aiming to meet the needs and aspirations of society."

He also reiterated the university's commitment to continuously developing its academic programs and curricula to ensure the graduation of qualified professionals who are in step with global advancements. Agreement with the University of Exeter

The Supreme Coordination Committee of Ain Shams University, headed by Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, held a meeting attended by Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development and Acting Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, with a delegation from the University of Exeter, UK, to lay out the implementation plan for activating the partnership between the two universities, which is expected to begin in the upcoming academic year.

This partnership is the first of its kind in Egypt and Africa, aiming to establish a distinguished campus in Egypt for the University of Exeter within the International Campus of Ain Shams University.

Aligned with the vision of the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the partnership is set to support key national reforms focused on the internationalization of education, quality enhancement, and expanding access to education. It also aims to support innovative research, boost international research collaborations, and promote student and faculty exchange alongside enhanced cultural and academic integration and stronger ties between academia and industry.

   
   

Key expected outcomes of this partnership include expanding access to internationally accredited academic programs for students in Egypt and the surrounding region, supporting groundbreaking research, and fostering joint initiatives tackling global challenges.

It also involves faculty training, professional development, industry-university collaboration, and preparing graduates for modern labor markets by designing programs that equip students with necessary job-market skills.

Additionally, the partnership is expected to strengthen ties between the UK and Egypt, promoting collaboration across the cultural, industrial, and academic sectors.

Commencement of Studies

Ain Shams National University has officially announced the start of the 2025/2026 academic year on Saturday, September 27, amid extensive preparations to welcome new students in the faculties of Medicine, Engineering, Computer and Information Sciences & Artificial Intelligence, and Business.

This academic year, classes will be held at Ain Shams University's main campuses until the new Ain Shams National University campus in the New Administrative Capital is fully completed, as follows:

Faculty of Medicine – Ain Shams National University: at the Faculty of Medicine – Ain Shams University.

Faculty of Engineering – Ain Shams National University: at the Faculty of Engineering – Ain Shams University.

Faculty of Business – Ain Shams National University: at the Faculty of Commerce – Ain Shams University.

Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences & Artificial Intelligence – Ain Shams National University: at the National University premises, Guest House, behind Ain Shams University Specialized Hospital.

A full pavilion was dedicated to Ain Shams National University during the 2025–2026 academic year welcome festival at Ain Shams University. The event showcased the university’s academic programs and provided students with an opportunity to explore a wide range of student, social, cultural, athletic, scouting, and club activities, along with live performances and special events.

The President of Ain Shams University also attended orientation sessions for new students in the Faculties of Medicine, Business, and Computer and Information Sciences & Artificial Intelligence.
