Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, received Prof. Samir Atoum, President of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Medical University of Bahrain (RCSI Bahrain), and his accompanying delegation, on an official visit aimed at exploring ways to enhance cooperation and strengthen academic ties between the two universities in the areas of scientific research, elective clinical training, and joint academic events.

The meeting was also attended by Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Sahar Moussa, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing; Prof. Rehab Osman, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; and Prof. Dina Lashin, Director of the International Students and Visiting Professors Office.
Also present at the meeting from the Bahraini side were Professor Alfred Nichelson, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College of Medicine at RCSI Bahrain, and Mr. Fadi Ghosn, Head of Recognition, Professions, and Alumni Affairs.

During the meeting, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, emphasized that the university prioritizes joint Arab cooperation, noting that the partnership with the University of Bahrain represents a model for the exchange of scientific and research expertise.
He explained that the university is keen to open new horizons for student exchange and develop joint educational programs that align with the demands of the international labor market, stressing that collaboration among major educational institutions is the best way to prepare an Arab generation capable of competing globally.

For his part, Prof. Samir Atoum, President of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Medical University of Bahrain (RCSI Bahrain), expressed his appreciation for the prestigious standing of Ain Shams University as a long-established scientific institution.
He indicated his country's aspiration to develop a practical framework for cooperation encompassing innovative research projects and joint programs that serve the sustainable development goals of both countries. He emphasized that this visit is a crucial step towards building a long-term strategic partnership that will benefit the educational journey in the Kingdom of Bahrain and Egypt.
A film was also shown illustrating the remarkable journey of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland Medical University of Bahrain (RCSI Bahrain), whose historical roots extend back to 1784. Its journey began in the Kingdom of Bahrain with the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Bahraini government in 2003, opening its first offices in the Adliya area in 2004, and then receiving its first batch of students at its headquarters in the Seef area in the same year.
The university offers distinguished academic programs through its Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, and School of Graduate Studies and Research. University graduates receive dual degrees recognized by both the University of Bahrain Medical School and the National University of Ireland, enhancing their professional competence in both the local and international markets.
At the conclusion of the visit, the two sides exchanged commemorative plaques in appreciation of the bilateral relations between them.
