A national partnership between banking, academic, and medical institutions has been further strengthened as Banque Misr and Ain Shams University signed two new cooperation protocols to support and develop services at Ain Shams Medical City, with total contributions exceeding EGP 181 million, enhancing its position as one of the largest integrated medical and academic healthcare institutions in Egypt and the region.
The protocols were signed by Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Mr. Hisham Okasha, CEO of Banque Misr, in the presence of senior leaders from the bank, the university, and Ain Shams University Hospitals. The event reflected strong integration between the banking sector and academic institutions in support of Egypt’s healthcare system.
The first protocol allocates EGP 165 million for the development of the outpatient clinics and radiotherapy building within the Oncology Complex at Ain Shams Medical City. This aims to achieve a qualitative leap in cancer treatment services in line with the latest international standards. The project includes upgrading radiotherapy services, increasing consultation clinics from 3 to 10 specialized clinics, establishing a fully equipped waiting and rest area for patients, adding 20 new chemotherapy pods, and creating an integrated internal radiotherapy unit, all while ensuring medical, psychological, quality, and infection-control standards for cancer patients.
The second protocol provides EGP 15.9 million to support the development and upgrading of the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Ain Shams University Hospitals, ensuring the continued delivery of advanced medical services at the highest levels of clinical efficiency.
This initiative builds on a series of strategic contributions previously made by Banque Misr to Ain Shams Medical City, including funding the first phase of the Integrated Care Wing with a capacity of 12 beds and contributing to the development and equipping of the second phase. This brings the bank’s total contributions to this vital project to approximately EGP 153 million by the end of 2025, significantly increasing capacity and improving the quality of critical care services.
