Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Amany Osama, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Rami Maher, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Farid Moharram El Garhy, Dean of the Faculty of Business, the Faculty of Commerce at Ain Shams University organized its annual Iftar banquet at the Republican Guard House on Sunday, March 15, 2026. Prof. Farid Moharram El Garhy, Dean of the Faculty, along with Prof. Tamer Rady, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Mohamed Morsi, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Gihan Ragab, Advisor to the Dean for Community and Environmental Affairs, welcomed a group of senior state officials and public figures who joined the faculty family in this long-standing Ramadan tradition.
The ceremony was attended by a high-level delegation, headed by Prof. Hussein Eissa, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, and Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University.
The ceremony also saw the participation of a distinguished group of university presidents and vice presidents, as well as academic and professional leaders, most notably Prof. Amany Osama, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Rami Maher, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs.
The event was attended by a distinguished group of figures, including Prof. Saleh Hashem, former President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud and Prof. Mohamed El-Toukhy, former Vice Presidents of the University for Education and Student Affairs.
Also participating were Prof. Khaled Hamdy Abdel Rahman, President of Al-Ahram Canadian University, and Prof. Mohamed Saleh Hashem, President of the Sadat academy for Administrative Sciences.
Among the former deans and vice deans of the Faculty of Business, the event was attended by Prof. Atef El-Awam, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education for Financial Affairs and former Vice President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Mohamed Mahmoud Abdel-Magid, former Vice President of the Central Auditing Organization and former Dean of the Faculty; Prof. Amr El-Atraby, Vice President of Badr University and former Dean of the Faculty; and Prof. Abdel-Rahman Alian, Professor Emeritus of Cost Accounting and former Vice Dean of the Faculty of Business.
Also present were Prof. Magdy Abdel-Qader, Head of the Commercial Sector Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities; Prof. Mohamed Salehien, Vice President of Ain Shams National University for Academic Affairs; Prof. Hafez El-Ghandour, Head of the Syndicate of Commerce Professionals; and the prominent poet and media personality, Dr. Gamal El-Shaer.
The event concluded with a notable attendance of department heads, faculty staff, teaching assistants, faculty and university administrators, and a host of press and media representatives.
During the ceremony, Prof. Hussein Issa expressed his delight at being among his extended family, emphasizing his pride in being one of the faculty’s alumni who carry its message in executive positions, while continuing with pride to fulfill his academic and educational duties as a professor within the faculty’s halls. He noted that the Faculty of Business at Ain Shams University remains a constant source of national talent.
For his part, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of the University, affirmed that the presence of this distinguished group reflects the prestigious academic and national standing of the university and its esteemed faculties. He commended the high level of organization and the warm, familial atmosphere that prevailed at this distinguished gathering, as well as the commitment to ensuring its success in a manner befitting the long-standing reputation of the Faculty of Business and Ain Shams University.
In his welcoming remarks, Prof. Farid Moharram El Garhy, Dean of the Faculty, emphasized that this meeting transcended the mere act of breaking the fast, becoming a platform for solidifying the spirit of unity and strengthening bonds of friendship. He noted that the Faculty takes pride in its dedicated and esteemed members, whose continued presence embodies a unique integration of profound academic expertise and practical national vision. He also expressed his appreciation for the ongoing and unwavering support provided by the administration of Ain Shams University to all sectors of the Faculty of Business, which has been instrumental in the success of this exceptional event.
The halls of the event were filled with a Ramadan atmosphere characterized by warmth and mutual respect, as attendees gathered in a meeting that reflected the highest ideals of human and academic connection.
A spirit of camaraderie prevailed during the sessions, as conversations brought together a generation of distinguished figures and young researchers to exchange experiences and memories, in a scene that underscored the strength and long-standing tradition of the Faculty of Business.
Participants were keen to take commemorative photographs to document this special gathering, which will remain a prominent landmark, immortalizing the meeting of national luminaries within the hallowed halls of the Republican Guard.
At the conclusion of the meeting, attendees commended Prof. Farid Moharram El-Garhy and the faculty administration for reviving this annual Ramadan tradition after a period of discontinuity.
