Ain Shams University offers its condolences on the passing of Prof. Ibrahim El-Demery, former Minister of Transport and former Vice President of Ain Shams University

Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, extend their deepest condolences on the passing of Prof. Ibrahim El Demery, former Minister of Transport and former Vice President of Ain Shams University.

May God have mercy on him and grant his family patience and solace.

Dr. Ibrahim El-Demery, the former Minister of Transport, is one of Egypt's leading experts in transportation and traffic planning. He graduated from the Faculty of Engineering at Cairo University and received his doctorate in transportation and traffic planning from RWTH Aachen University in Germany in 1973.

He has served as a visiting professor in the field of transportation and traffic at numerous American, European, and Arab universities. He has also been a registered expert in transportation and traffic planning with the United Nations and the World Bank since 1983. He has published approximately 66 research papers both domestically and internationally, as well as more than 100 studies. He is considered the founder of the Transportation and Traffic Planning Department at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University.

El-Demery served as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University, then as Vice President of the University, before being appointed Minister of Transport in October 1999. He remained in this position until his resignation in 2002 following the Upper Egypt train fire.

El-Demery also chaired the Transport and Communications Research Council at the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, as well as the Space Sciences Division at the same academy. He also headed the Egyptian Consulting Engineering Forum from 2002 to 2008. He has published over 60 research papers in the fields of transport, traffic, roads, and railways in local and international conferences.

He also worked as an expert for the United Nations and the World Bank in the fields of transport, railways, roads, and seaports and airports.
