Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs; and Prof. Farid Moharram El-Garhy, Dean of the Faculty, the Faculty of Business organized, in cooperation with the CFA Institute and its Egyptian affiliate, CFA Society Egypt, a distinguished introductory and practical seminar entitled “Building a Global Career Path in Investment Management: The CFA Program, Specialized Certifications, and Practical Career Pathways.”
The seminar served as a dynamic bridge between academia and professional practice, bringing together deep global expertise and inspiring local role models in a step aimed at preparing students to compete effectively in global labor markets.
Held at Dr. Ali Lotfy Hall, the event witnessed strong leadership and academic attendance, with the participation of Prof. Mohamed Morsi, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Mohamed Abdel Fattah Mohamed, former Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; and under the organizational supervision of Dr. Osama Samy, Seminar Coordinator, and Dr. Hesham Abdel Aziz, Coordinator of Interdisciplinary Programs at the Faculty.
The seminar featured exceptional content delivered by two prominent figures in the investment field. International expert Rob Langrick, Managing Director of Product Support at the CFA Institute, highlighted the Institute’s global vision and the mechanisms for developing its standardized programs. Meanwhile, renowned Egyptian expert Ashraf El-Khatib, Vice President of CFA Society Egypt and Vice Chair of the Institute’s Global Education Committee, presented an inspiring practical model of a university graduate who successfully combined academic excellence with international professional achievement.
The seminar focused on three main pillars, beginning with a comprehensive introduction to the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation as the world’s leading professional credential in finance and investment, and an overview of the broad career opportunities it offers locally, regionally, and internationally.
The speakers also showcased real-life examples of successful career paths, illustrating how the CFA designation contributes to career advancement and the building of a strong professional future.
In addition, the seminar addressed student support mechanisms, including scholarship programs offered by the Institute to ease financial burdens and empower young professionals at the start of their careers. It also highlighted the CFA Research Challenge as a flagship applied experience that integrates academic study with practical application, helping students develop financial analysis, research, and teamwork skills.
On the sidelines of the seminar, and as part of celebrating student excellence, the Dean of the Faculty hosted the faculty’s student team that advanced beyond the research report stage of the competition and was selected among the top eight teams out of more than twenty participating teams from Egyptian universities nationwide.
Team members shared their rich experience with attendees, responding to questions on how to benefit academically and professionally from the competition and how to prepare for the labor market after graduation.
Prof. Farid Moharram El-Garhy, Dean of the Faculty, emphasized that the event represents an exceptional platform for direct engagement between students and global investment thought leaders, noting the faculty’s commitment to equipping its students with the tools needed to compete strongly in both local and international job markets. He added that nurturing student talent and supporting career development are core pillars of the faculty’s strategic vision to build a generation capable of leading the future.
The seminar, which attracted strong participation from teaching assistants, students, and alumni, concluded with an open discussion session that provided a valuable opportunity for knowledge exchange and professional networking, reaffirming the leadership of the Faculty of Business at Ain Shams University in delivering high-quality initiatives that enrich the educational journey and align it with the evolving needs of the labor market.
