As part of Ain Shams University's commitment to supporting the Arabic language and enhancing its status as a cornerstone of cultural and civilizational identity, the Arabic Language Department at the Faculty of Al-Alsun organized a scholarly and cultural celebration on World Arabic Language Day. The event was held under the supervision of Prof. Yumna Safwat, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun and Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development.
The celebration affirmed the university's role in serving the Arabic language, supporting academic efforts aimed at preserving it, developing its teaching methods, and connecting it to the demands of the modern age, thus contributing to strengthening students' linguistic and cultural awareness.

The event was chaired by Prof. Wajih Yaqoub Al-Sayed, Head of the Department of Arabic Language, and supervised and organized by a select group of the department's professors. Prof. Ahmed Abdel-Azim Mohamed, Professor of Literature and Criticism in the department, moderated the proceedings, emphasizing that celebrating the Arabic language stems from the university's responsibility towards its cultural heritage and its academic mission.
The celebration began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a speech from Prof. Wajih Yaqoub Al-Sayed, Head of the Department of Arabic Language. In his speech, he reviewed the historical background of Arabic's adoption as an official language of the United Nations, noting the international significance this represents, which necessitates further academic and cultural efforts to preserve and promote the Arabic language.
The celebration featured a scholarly presentation by Prof. Ahmed Yahya Ali, Professor of Literature and Criticism at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, entitled “The Arabic Language and Moderation of Expression.” In his presentation, he addressed the concept of moderation as an inherent characteristic of Arabic expression and its implications for achieving a balance between reason and emotion, and between form and content in literary creation.

Dr. Muhammad Al-Tahir also delivered a speech entitled “Arabic and its Foundations: Roots of Authenticity and Horizons of Renewal.” During his presentation, he reviewed the structural and aesthetic characteristics of the Arabic language and highlighted the most prominent challenges it faces in the contemporary world, emphasizing the importance of renewing linguistic discourse and strengthening the presence of Arabic in various fields.
In a creative segment, the poet Muhammad Al-Sharqawi, representing the poet and writer Nawal Muhanna, spoke about the relationship between the Arabic language and literary creativity. He then recited one of her poems, followed by a poem of his own composition expressing his pride in the Arabic language and its cultural significance.
The celebration also featured outstanding creative student performances, presented by Tasbih Emad and Mariam Essam, students from the Arabic Language Department. Their presentations, ranging from poetry recitation to singing, reflected a high level of linguistic awareness and artistic appreciation among the department's students.
