The certificate was awarded during a special ceremony held on the sidelines of the Society’s annual conference in the United States, where the SVIN team presented the accreditation certificate to Dr. Ahmed El-Bassiouni, Director of the Stroke and Neuro-intervention Unit at Ain Shams University, in recognition of the advanced medical standards and high-quality services provided within the university hospitals.
The international evaluation team had visited the unit last April and expressed great admiration for its level of equipment, precision of medical practices, and the competence of its staff, considering the unit a highly advanced model that aligns with the best global standards.
Dr. Ahmed El-Bassiouny affirmed that this achievement would not have been possible without the continuous support of Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of the University Hospitals, in addition to the dedicated efforts of all team members since the unit’s establishment. He noted that the unit provides its therapeutic services completely free of charge to Egyptian citizens.
El-Bassiouny added that obtaining the SILC accreditation reflects Egypt’s leading position in the field of neuro-intervention and stroke treatment. He also delivered a lecture on the development of this specialty in Egypt during the largest neuro-intervention conference held in Florida, where participants expressed their admiration for the significant progress achieved by Egypt in this field, particularly the distinguished model of the Stroke Unit at Ain Shams University.
