Academic collaboration between Ain Shams University and the University of Essex (UK) in teaching law at the Faculty of Law

On Monday, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, received Prof. Konstantinos Kalliris, Professor of Criminal Law and Head of International Cooperation and Partnerships at the University of Essex (UK). The visit took place within the framework of implementing the joint teaching initiative between the Faculty of Law at Ain Shams University (English Credit Hour Program) and the School of Law at the University of Essex, based on the cooperation and partnership agreement signed between the two universities.

   
   

The meeting was attended by Professor Mohamed Salehin, Vice President of Ain Shams National University for Academic Affairs; Prof. Sherweit El-Ahmady, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Collaboration Sector; and Dr. Ahmed Fathi Khalifa, Lecturer of Criminal Law at the Faculty of Law, Ain Shams University, and Head of International Cooperation at the Faculty.

This initiative marks the first of its kind among faculties of law in Egyptian universities, as part of the courses will be taught using academic materials and teaching resources approved by the University of Essex. This component will also be included in students’ final assessments, contributing to the development of their academic skills and enriching their educational experience in line with international standards.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to expand research and academic cooperation between the universities and explored the possibility of launching joint international programs that would enhance Ain Shams University’s global standing in higher education.

In this context, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen affirmed the university’s continuous commitment to opening new horizons for collaboration with leading international universities, in line with its strategy to promote global partnerships and academic exchange. He emphasized that Ain Shams University constantly strives to develop its academic programs in accordance with global standards and to provide its students with distinguished educational opportunities that qualify them to compete in both regional and international labor markets.

For his part, Professor Konstantinos Kalliris expressed his pleasure in collaborating with Ain Shams University and his aspiration for further academic and research partnerships between the two institutions across various fields, fostering knowledge exchange and strengthening academic ties between the two countries.
