Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board, and within the framework of international cooperation and the exchange of expertise between the university and medical institutions worldwide, Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of Ain Shams University Hospitals, participated in the Annual Biomedical Forum held as part of the International Exchange Week of Suzhou and Jiangsu Province, China, on October 27, 2025.

Also participating in the conference was Prof. Ahmed Said, Director of the Emergency Hospital at Ain Shams University Hospitals. This year’s forum discussed the theme “Collaboration and Integration among Industry, Education, Research, and Application”, with the participation of distinguished professors and experts from Chinese and African universities.
Nanjing Medical University hosted the second day of the forum on October 28 in Jiangsu Province, attended by academic and medical delegations from several countries, including Ain Shams University — the only Egyptian university participating in the event.

Prof. Tarek Youssef took part in a Round Table Discussion addressing opportunities for cooperation and challenges in medical and scientific research fields. Participants discussed mechanisms for integration among industry, education, research, and application across various medical disciplines.
Assoc. Prof. Shereen Fawaz, Director of the International Relations Office, delivered a scientific lecture entitled “Biomedical Science and Artificial Intelligence: Integration among Education, Research, and Industry in Medical Rehabilitation and Genomics Applications.”
Her presentation highlighted the role of modern technologies in advancing medical practice and scientific research.
On the sidelines of the conference, Prof. Tarek Youssef held several official meetings with the leadership of Nanjing Medical University, including the University President, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and several professors specializing in internal medicine, endocrinology, and surgery.
These meetings explored opportunities for academic and scientific cooperation between the two institutions, including student and physician exchanges, participation in international research conferences, and sharing expertise in medical training and education.
In the coming days, additional meetings are scheduled between the Ain Shams University Hospitals delegation and officials from the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University to continue discussions on collaboration in family medicine and public health.
At the conclusion of the events, Prof. Tarek Youssef received an official Certificate of Participation, confirming the inclusion of Ain Shams University Hospitals in the Cooperation Association between Jiangsu Province and African Universities in Family and Community Medicine, making Ain Shams University the first and only Egyptian university to join this prestigious scientific network.
