The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at Ain Shams University organizes the forum “Made in Ain Shams University – Industry Day”

The activities of the forum “Made in Ain Shams University – Industry Day” were launched at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center of Ain Shams University. The event aims to strengthen cooperation between the university and the industrial sector and was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, with the attendance of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Amr Shaat, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Prof. Neveen Assem, CEO of the Innovation and Training Sector.

The forum was supervised and organized by Dr. Mohamed Magdy, Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, Dr. Islam Adly, Coordinator of the Innovation Clubs Project, and Ms. Salma Samir, Center Project Coordinator.

In her opening remarks, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, emphasized the importance of integrating academic study with industry as a fundamental step toward developing industrial thinking and supporting national development. She noted that the relationship between academia and industry still moves in parallel lines without real intersection, which has led to differing visions regarding industrial development and its objectives. Therefore, she stressed the need for continuous dialogue between the two sides to reach a unified vision and work together for effective results.

She praised the distinguished applied research conducted within universities but pointed out that much of it lacks real implementation in factories and industrial institutions.

Prof. Farouk further stressed the necessity of bridging the gap between academics and industrialists and strengthening cooperation channels to achieve mutual benefit and transform scientific research into a driving force for national industrial development.

Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, affirmed the university’s commitment to turning research outputs into tangible products that serve society and industry.

She highlighted that Ain Shams University is home to outstanding researchers who work diligently to find innovative scientific solutions but sometimes lack direct exposure to the real challenges facing industry. She confirmed the university’s serious intent to develop the industrial sector and enhance communication with industrial partners to generate meaningful proposals that benefit both society and industry.

Prof. Amany invited representatives of the industrial sector to present their challenges and problems to researchers to narrow the gap between academic study and the labor market, stressing the importance of collaboration built on clear goals and a shared pursuit of sustainable solutions.

Prof. Neveen Assem stated that the university’s vision is based on integrating industry into the educational process—starting with identifying labor market needs, involving industry representatives in curriculum design, and even engaging them in classroom teaching, to bridge the gap between academic education and market requirements. She noted that industrial participation in supporting research and graduation projects with innovative, applicable ideas fosters innovation and contributes to strengthening the local economy.

She added that the Innovation and Training Sector includes three main centers: the Innovation Center, the Employment Center, and the Training and Development Center, all aimed at qualifying students and enhancing their skills to meet labor market demands. She also emphasized that the Faculty of Engineering serves as a successful model in this regard, and the university seeks to generalize this experience across all faculties to improve graduates’ competencies and competitiveness locally and globally.

Dr. Mohamed Magdy described the forum as an important step toward rebuilding bridges between the university and the labor market. He explained that the industrial sector has faced increasing challenges in development and quality over recent years, while academic research has sometimes moved in directions detached from actual market needs.

He added, “Today, it is time for us to meet at a single point—to cooperate and work as one team, because there can be no strong industry without science, and no fruitful science without application.”

He noted that the projects presented during the forum are not merely theoretical ideas but practical proof of the competence of Ain Shams University’s students and researchers and their ability to turn ideas into tangible products and devices—demonstrating that trust is built through action and achievement.

The forum also featured an exhibition showcasing projects and practical products developed by Ain Shams University students and researchers. A discussion session was held between representatives of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center and industrial sector leaders to explore responses to industrial needs, potential future cooperation, and strategies for linking academia with industry while promoting innovation and directing research to serve national industrial goals.

The event was attended by over 40 companies from various industrial and agricultural fields, including El Sewedy Cables, El Araby Group, ATS, and other major industry players.

The activities also included bilateral meetings between business owners and project leaders across different specialties to explore collaboration opportunities and support the transformation of research ideas into applicable projects.

At the conclusion of the forum, three companies founded by outstanding Ain Shams University alumni entrepreneurs were honored. Their representatives delivered brief presentations highlighting their missions, achievements, and successful business models, earning praise from attendees for accomplishments that reflect the university’s success in linking education with the labor market.
