Honoring the Ministers of Health, Higher Education, and national figures who are alumni of Ain Shams University during the opening of the university’s 13th International Scientific Conference in celebration of 75 years of excellence and leadership

As part of Ain Shams University’s celebrations marking 75 years since its founding, the official opening session of the university’s 13th International Scientific Conference, held under the slogan “Ain Shams... 75 Years of Excellence and Leadership: An Eye on the Past and a Sun Lighting the Future”, featured the honoring of several prominent national figures and influential personalities from various fields.

Among those honored were Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, and Prof. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, presented them with the university’s honorary shield in recognition of their dedication and efforts in serving the nation.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, representing the Ministry of Religious Endowments; Dr. Ahmed Fouad Henno, representing the Ministry of Culture; Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo; as well as a number of former ministers, university presidents, senior officials from the Ministry of Higher Education and other concerned ministries, members of the House of Representatives and the Senate, Ain Shams University leaders, faculty members, and students.

The honors also included Prof. Ali Abdel Aal, former Speaker of the House of Representatives; Mr. Sameh Shoukry, former Minister of Foreign Affairs; and the late Prosecutor General, Counselor Hisham Barakat, whose award was received by his daughter, Counselor Marwa Hisham Barakat.

In a related context, a distinguished group of Ain Shams University alumni who are members of Egypt’s Advisory Council of Scientists and Experts were also honored, including: Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, former President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Hossam El-Mallahi, President of Nahda University and Professor of Oral Medicine at the Faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams University, Prof. Amr Abdel Rahman, Professor in the Department of Structural Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering

Additionally, a group of prominent Ain Shams alumni who have made notable contributions across various fields were recognized, including Islamic preacher Mostafa Hosny, Engineer Hatem Sallam, Co-founder and CEO of EduSoftX and Mr. Michael Yassa of the World Bank

In a gesture reflecting the university’s support for entrepreneurship and innovation, two young entrepreneurs, Abdel Rahman Mohamed Ibrahim and Abdel Rahman El-Husseiny, were honored as the founders of “Qatfa,” a pioneering startup in agri-tech and sustainability. The company developed innovative solutions to reduce food waste and preserve the environment and successfully secured a record EGP 3 million in funding after advancing in the GEN Z competition.

These recognitions reflect Ain Shams University’s commitment to highlighting outstanding national and academic role models who contribute to driving development and serving the community, affirming its leadership role over 75 years of excellence and impact.
