The Infection Control Unit at the Faculty of Dentistry at Ain Shams University organized a celebration of World Hand Hygiene Day, coinciding with World Hand Hygiene Day, under the theme "Gloves, if necessary, clean hands always." The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University; Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Karim El-Batouti, Dean of the Faculty; and Prof. Walaa Hamed, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; under the supervision of Prof. Dina Mohamed Erfan, Infection Control Consultant.
The event included a series of activities aimed at raising health awareness among dental professionals about the importance of hand hygiene to maintain patient safety and prevent the spread of infection to patients, staff, and the environment, as well as improving the quality of medical services provided to patients. The event aims to highlight the importance of adhering to effective hand hygiene and implementing infection prevention and control measures to prevent healthcare-associated infections, including infections that can develop into epidemics and pandemics, and antimicrobial-resistant infections, the frequency, scope, and impact of which are increasing.

Hand hygiene saves millions of lives each year when performed at the right moments and in the right way during healthcare delivery, and clean care protects both patients and staff.
The celebration included numerous interactive activities aimed at educating participants about the correct way to wash and disinfect hands, the correct way to use gloves, and how to avoid common mistakes. It also included an awareness competition and the distribution of symbolic gifts and hand sanitizers. The event was attended by a wide range of faculty staff, nursing staff, students, technicians, and administrators.
