“The Future of Feminism in the Arab World”…The first scientific forum of the Scientific Publishing Unit at the Faculty of Girls in cooperation with the Arab Women Organization

On Tuesday, April 30, 2024, the activities of the First Scientific Forum of the Scientific Publishing Unit at the Faculty of Girls of Arts, Sciences and Education at Ain Shams University were launched, in cooperation with the Arab Women Organization under the title “The Future of Feminism in the Arab World,” directly and electronically via the Zoom application, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University.

The forum was chaired by Prof. Amira Youssef, Dean of the Faculty of Girls, and Prof. Hanan Al-Shaer, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Postgraduate Studies, rapporteur of the forum, and Prof. Azza Khalil, Managing Editor of the International Journal of Women and Child Studies, served as Secretary of the Forum.

The forum extends over two days, including three sessions to present and discuss research in the field of feminism, as well as a round table entitled “The Future of Feminism in the Arab World: Between Reality and Aspirations.” It also includes a workshop entitled “Prospects for Scientific Research in the Family Field.”

The volume and diversity of participants in working papers in the current forum reflects the importance and vitality of the issue of equal opportunities between women and men. Just as there are men who possess executive, innovative, and leadership capabilities that can serve various fields of work, there are also women who possess innovative, executive, and leadership capabilities that enable them to contribute to the advancement of society.

Researchers from several Arab countries, alongside Egyptian researchers, participate in the forum, which enriches discussions on feminist issues and comes up with fruitful recommendations for decision-makers in Arab societies to advance the status of women, the family, and local communities.

The research and working papers presented at the forum will be published in a special issue of the International Journal of Women’s and Children’s Studies, affiliated with the Scientific Publishing Unit at the Faculty of Girls at Ain Shams University.
