Within the framework of the scientific activity and community keenness of the Faculty of Medicine, the Department of Oncology at Ain Shams Medicine organized an awareness seminar to celebrate World Cancer Day, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, and Prof. Dr. Hala Sweid, and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community and Environmental Affairs, with the participation of Prof. Dr. Lubna Ezz Al-Arab, Professor and Head of the Department of Oncology, Prof. Dr. Nashwa Fouad, Public Health Coach, and Dr. Nermin Mustafa, Oncology Teacher, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Jaida Anwar, Professor of the Department of Community Medicine, professors, faculty staff, the assisting teachers, students, and employees of the Faculty of Medicine.

Prof. Dr. Hala Sweid began the seminar by clarifying the vital role provided by Ain Shams University Hospitals in early detection and treatment of tumors, contributing to presidential initiatives, and paying attention to raising the level of medical services provided to oncology patients in all departments as a priority in the development plan of Ain Shams University hospitals.

Prof. Dr. Lubna Ezz Al-Arab began the seminar by giving a lecture on rumors and misconceptions about early detection and cancer treatment.

         
   
         

Prof. Dr. Nashwa Fouad also explained how to prevent tumors by following a sound health system, then an open discussion followed by answering the questions of the audience in a simplified manner to raise awareness of the importance of prevention and early detection of cancer.

It is worth mentioning that World Cancer Day is a global initiative to raise awareness of cancer under the slogan (Bridging the Care Gap), where millions of preventable deaths are sought annually by raising the awareness of individuals and society and emphasizing the importance of cancer prevention, early detection and providing all means of treatment for patients.

The seminar included discussion dialogues on the importance of community awareness of a healthy life, the importance of prevention and early detection of non-communicable diseases such as cancers, heart disease and diabetes, noting the presence of an early detection clinic for tumors in the Oncology Department, and focusing on various large-scale awareness campaigns aimed at raising awareness and promoting a healthy lifestyle, and the importance of early detection for prevention and to reduce the risk of cancer.
