The Minister of Higher Education and the President of Ain Shams University inaugurate the activities of the educational symposium entitled “Challenges to Egyptian National Security”

Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, stressed the important role of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in achieving Egyptian national security, by preparing qualified cadres capable of facing the various challenges facing the state, stressing the political leadership’s keenness to continuously support young people and provide them with the necessary care. This came during the opening of the activities of the dialogue symposium, entitled “Challenges to Egyptian National Security,” which was organized by Ain Shams University, and witnessed the presence of Dr. Samir Farag, former governor of Luxor, Dr. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Dr. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of Ain Shams University, and Dr. Ayat Al-Haddad, writer, politician and former member of the House of Representatives, in the Grand Conference Hall at Ain Shams University.

         
   
         

At the beginning of his speech, Dr. Ayman Ashour expressed his deep appreciation to the Armed Forces for their continuous efforts to protect the nation’s security and stability, pointing out that the university’s role is not only educational, but there is also interest in raising awareness in order to integrate the Egyptian student’s personality, through universities organizing many awareness activities and events targeting students and the local community. The activities aim to develop awareness of important issues such as (human rights, environment, culture, and Egyptian national security), stressing that the goal of these activities is to enrich the students’ culture and awareness of the issues surrounding them, and prepare them to be active individuals in society.

         
   
         

The Minister stressed that Egyptian national security is a top priority for the Egyptian state, as it forms the basis for stability, development and progress, noting that the symposium aims to raise awareness and instill a spirit of belonging among young people, as well as presenting visions and ideas and exchanging dialogue between young people and officials.

Dr. Ayman Ashour thanks Major General Staff Officer. Dr. Samir Faraj for his participation in the symposium activities due to the important information he possesses that he delivers during his lectures, which would enhance the values of belonging among young people, stressing that all state institutions work for the benefit of our youth, and pointing to the importance of organizing such events to enhance awareness among the Egyptian youth about societal issues and challenges facing sustainable development plans, and developing their spirit of citizenship and belonging.

For his part, Major General Staff Officer. Dr. Samir Farag stressed the importance of national projects in facing national security challenges, praising the efforts of Dr. Ayman Ashour in planning and implementing many national projects, including the Rams Road project in Luxor, which the UNESCO Committee praised and awarded the UNESCO World Heritage Award. ; Being a unique project that combines the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage, the project also represents a milestone in efforts to preserve world heritage in Egypt.

Dr. Samir Farag also reviewed the challenges of Egyptian national security and Egyptian relations with foreign, Arab and African countries, noting that Egypt faces a wide range of challenges that threaten its national security, including external challenges, including military, economic, and political threats, in addition to terrorist threats from extremist groups.

Dr. Samir Farag concluded his lecture by emphasizing that Egypt is a country rich in history and civilization, possesses a conscious and educated people, and enjoys many of the ingredients that qualify it for success, but in light of the economic, social, and political challenges that Egypt faces, its unity is the most important thing that can help it, to overcome these challenges.

In his speech, Dr. Mohamed Diaa welcomed the audience, pointing out the importance of this symposium related to Egypt’s national security challenges, pointing out that it comes within the framework of educational seminars prepared by Ain Shams University. To contribute to raising awareness and instilling the spirit of belonging and loyalty in the students’ hearts, correcting their misconceptions, as well as educating them about the new philosophy of wars in the region, developing their ideas of belonging to the homeland, and highlighting the political, security, and economic challenges surrounding our homeland during this period.

The President of Ain Shams University pointed out that the current stage that the Egyptian state is going through requires everyone to join hands and cooperate, in order to confront all the dangers facing the nation, and this solidarity will contribute greatly to crossing this stage safely, and gives an opportunity to bring about real development that pushes the Egyptian economy forward. He stressed that national security is a pivotal issue that is a top priority for the Egyptian state, and young people must play their role at this crucial stage in the nation’s history.

For her part, Dr. Ghada Farouk confirmed that the Egyptian state is making great efforts to confront all the challenges it faces, whether at home or abroad, including confronting rumours, false news, and systematic plans from different countries and movements that do not want good for the state or the Egyptian people.

The Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs added that it has become necessary for the academic community to mobilize youth and community efforts to preserve the Egyptian national state, align around the policies and positions it takes internally and externally, and deepen policies for building the Egyptian human being in all fields, through an integrated set of activities. Which is implemented on a large scale inside and outside the university through its various sectors.​

At the conclusion of the symposium activities, the students expressed their appreciation and benefit from this symposium, which provided a comprehensive and useful presentation of the challenges facing Egyptian national security, which varied between external and internal challenges.

Dr. Ayman Farid, Assistant Minister for Strategic Planning, Training, and Qualification for the Labor Market, and the Vice Presidents of Ain Shams University, deans of faculties, faculty staff, and university students, participated in the symposium activities.
