The Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, organized a workshop entitled "Visual Identity of Egyptian Cities" from August 12 to August 17, 2023, in cooperation with the Faculty of Regional and Urban Planning - Cairo University.

The workshop is an important first step in achieving academic exchange at the national level, as it aims to create a scientific dialogue between Egyptian universities to define standards and mechanisms for achieving the visual identity of Egyptian cities.

The closing session was attended by presenting and discussing ideas and distributing certificates of appreciation to the participants, Dr. Ghada Farouk - Acting President of Ain Shams University, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Professor of Urban Planning, Dr. Omar Al-Husseini, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University and Professor of Urban Design.

The Faculty of Engineering sincerely thanked Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Education and Student Affairs for his directives to provide adequate accommodation for delegations of regional universities in the university city for male and female students at Ain Shams University.

The workshop program included a series of lectures on the nature of visual identity and some local and international experiences, in addition to field visits to the study sites, which focus mainly on the entrances to cities and main axes, such as the entrance to Cairo from Cairo Airport from Al-Orouba Street to Abbasiya Square, then the entrance to Cairo from Ramses Square from The main railway station, as the most important square in Cairo, and as a vital public space that carries an important urban memory in the fabric of Cairo. Initial design and planning ideas were developed for these sites.

The visual identity workshop for Egyptian cities is a first step in cooperation between universities and creating a common working environment for students from all participating universities.

The workshop took place under the supervision of the organizing committee consisting of Prof. Mohamed Refaat, Head of the Urban Design Department - Faculty of Regional and Urban Planning - Cairo University, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Fayoumi - Professor at the Urban Design and Planning Department, and Prof. Noha Gamal Saeed, Academic Exchange Coordinator at the International Cooperation Office, Assistant Professor, Department of Urban Design and Planning, with a staff from the Associate Staff from the Faculty of Engineering - Ain Shams University.

In the opening and closing sessions, the Faculty of Engineering was honored by the presence of representatives of the ministries concerned with developing a comprehensive vision and reference for the visual identity, which are the Ministry of Local Development, the Ministry of Culture represented by the National Organization for Urban Harmony, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and in the presence of a group of professors from all universities participating in the workshop to set fonts The petition for a comprehensive vision of the visual identity of Egypt's cities.
