The first in the world... Ain Shams University racing team is the best team in total design, manufacturing, cost and marketing plan in the Formula Student competition in England

In a new global achievement for Ain Shams University, the university's racing team won the first place cup and the best team in the total (overall score) design, manufacturing, cost and marketing plan in the "Formula for Students" competition, which was held at the Silverstone racetrack in England.

The team won the best design award in the Concepts category competition, outperforming all competing universities, which amounted to 37 international universities. The team also won the third place in the world in managing the business and marketing of a self-driving racing car model, and the fifth place in the world in the fields of (business management and marketing of the electric racing car model, static tests for self-driving racing cars, studying the costs and methods of manufacturing electric racing cars), and the eleventh place in a study of the costs and methods of manufacturing racing cars with internal combustion engines, and the seventeenth position in their design.

Prof. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, said that the students of the Faculty of Engineering excelled over engineering students in international universities, which confirms their superior practical ability resulting from their receiving the highest level of education that copes with the requirements of the times and the labor market and what the current global stage of innovation requires.

Prof. Omar Al-Husseini, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, said that, believing in the faculty's role in supporting innovation and bridging the gap between the university and the labor market, it decided to increase its support for its innovative students and harness the many efforts of professors and supervisors with capabilities at the highest levels in order to help students innovate and become among the best graduates in Egypt.

The team presented a complete marketing plan for a program and system to convert cars to be self-driving. The competition this year, which is held at the Silverstone International Circuit for Formula 1 racing, is divided into two parts.

The team ranked 20th in the overall standings, which is the highest position achieved by a team from Africa and the Middle East, and the second division is self-driving cars. Because of the difficulty of this category, only 20 teams from the world participate in it, and the team ranked fifth in the overall standings of this category.

It is noteworthy that the Ain Shams Engineering Racing Team is a student organization whose primary goal is the automotive industry in Egypt. The team was able to participate in many competitions in previous years, and achieve great achievements such as the Formula Student 2018 competition in England, and the Shell Eco Marathon in Malaysia.
