Sustainable development and green economy in Egypt during a session within the activities of the 11th Annual International Conference of Ain Shams University

Under the title of sustainable development and the green economy in Egypt, a session came within the activities of the eleventh annual international conference of Ain Shams University, which was held from 10 to 11 this month. The session was the culmination of all the efforts of Ain Shams University during the past years with regard to sustainable development and the green economy.

Prof. Anil Markandia, Honorary, Professor of Economics at the University of Bath in the United Kingdom, and Distinguished Professor at the Center for Climate Change in the Basque Country in Spain, participated in the session from abroad. He has many books in the field of sustainable development, and he reviewed a study on the transformation of the green economy in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

Marcindia, in his speech, clarified that the Egyptian state is taking good steps towards a green transition and towards a pollution-free environment, all of which is in the interest of the economic field, and this entails increasing the per capita share of goods and services by using renewable energy that does not pollute the environment.

Prof. Alaa Sarhan, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research at Ain Shams University, spoke about the challenges facing the Egyptian state due to economic conditions locally and internationally, and that the state is working hard to stimulate the private sector to invest in renewable energy projects to enhance its use in all fields and thus spread a clean and renewable environment.

He stressed that the state is currently removing all obstacles facing investors in this field to help spread clean energy and thus a good healthy life for the citizen.

Prof. Hisham Al-Askari, Vice President of the Egyptian Space Authority and Professor of Remote Sensing, also pointed out the many information and data that we obtain from satellites, in addition to many advanced modeling tools and how to exploit them in the agricultural field under the name of smart agriculture, with the aim of increasing agricultural production and better planning in this important strategic field, using modern technology based on the use of remote sensing techniques in order to benefit the Egyptian agricultural sector well.
