Acquisition and development of positive values... A symposium at the Faculty of Education

Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Hazem Rashid, Dean of the Faculty of Education, and Prof. Dr. Alaa El-Din Abdel Halim, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Maha Morcos, Head of the Department The French language, and in light of the university's strengthening of the moral values system, the French Department of the Faculty of Education, Ain Shams University, organized an important cultural symposium on the acquisition and development of positive values.

The symposium revolved around “the concept of values, how to acquire them? and How do you develop it?” In light of the university and the Faculty administration’s orientation towards inculcating positive values among students, Ms. Ola Karim Wasfi, a certified practitioner, trainer, and expert in this field, gave a lecture at this symposium.

The symposium was coordinated by Dr. Nahla Bassiouni, assistant professor in the department, which referred to the definition of values and their types, challenges, and difficulties for their formation, continuity, and development as a frame of reference for the behavior of individuals and directing their actions, which preserves the community's homogeneity, cohesion, and interdependence.

She also emphasized the proper awareness of the self that affects several aspects of the personality components and behavior, including, but not limited to, the cleanliness of written answers or articles, non-repeated deletion, observance of the etiquette of the council, not passing between the speaker and the recipient, recommending friends according to each of them's view of himself, and giving me my right in responding to those who harm me in a timely manner in an appropriate manner that stops them from persisting in harm in light of the ruling moral standards, as well as my full belief that the advantage is not in comparison, but rather in the art of dealing with our differences, as each of us is valuable in himself.

In an atmosphere of active discussions with the students, many real-life examples were discussed that indicate the negative values that should be avoided and the important positive values that must be strengthened. Practical training was given to the students in this regard. The importance of this cultural symposium lies in the role of values in rooting the culture of society and controlling His behavior, especially for students of the Faculty of Education, who are the teachers of tomorrow, in order to establish the role of the Faculty and the university and to achieve its mission to serve the community and improve its behavior.
