Egyptian newspaper editors praise the press of Department of Communication and Media Sciences, class of 2021, Faculty of Art

Department of Communication and Media Sciences, Faculty of Arts, Ain Shams University, headed by Prof. Dr. Heba Shaheen hosted a distinguished elite of Egyptian newspaper editors to arbitrate the graduation projects of the fourth year students of the class of 2021, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President of Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Mustafa Mortada, Dean of the Faculty.

The projects jury included the Press Division, a number of prominent journalistic figures, Mr. Emad Al-Din Hussein, editor-in-chief of Al-Shorouk newspaper, Mr. Khaled Miri, editor-in-chief of Al-Akhbar newspaper, Mr. Akram Al-Qassas, editor-in-chief of Al-Youm7 newspaper, and Dr. Mohamed El-Baz, editor-in-chief of Al-Dustour newspaper.

In the presence of Dr. Heba Sayed, the supervisor of journalism graduation projects, and Mrs. Nesma Mohamed, assistant teacher in the department and Mrs. Heba Al-Tahtawi teaching assistant department supervisors on the two press magazines.

         
   
         

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Mortada congratulated the students, pointing out that the Department of Communication and Media Sciences was established in 1996, and made a strong addition to the college over the past years, stressing the keenness to maintain the level of students and graduates of the department, and a good omen for this promising generation, as the press is the basis of the media and is the pulse of society.

Prof. Dr. Heba Shaheen, Head of the Department of Communication and Media Sciences, confirmed that the press is the most durable and strongest medium, whether it is paper or digital, and it is from whose womb everything we see in the various media outlets comes out today, adding that today we are witnessing luminous journalistic models that struggled and struggled to reach the forefront of the Egyptian press institutions.

Mr. Emad El-Din Hussein, editor-in-chief of Al-Shorouk newspaper, expressed his happiness to see this generation of journalism students in the Media Department at Ain Shams University, pointing out that journalism includes all people, such as radio, television and public relations, addressing young people that it is a profession that requires effort, sweat and sacrifice in order to reach your dreams.

Mr. Khaled Miri, editor-in-chief of Al-Akhbar newspaper, confirmed that the paper press is the heart of the media industry in the world, explaining that the media complement each other and that the journalist must work in all media and media.

         
   
         

Mr. Akram Al-Qassas, Editor-in-Chief of Al-Youm7 newspaper, explained that there are many changes that have occurred in the press, but we must look at the advantages of the technology that has been made available to the press and contributed to its development, noting that the competition between paper and digital journalism is a competition between institutions and individuals, which requires more Effort and sweat in order for the journalist to hone his skills and use many of the tools of the time to achieve his ambitions.

Dr. Muhammad Al-Baz, editor-in-chief of Al-Dustour newspaper, stressed that the students' choice of journalism is the correct choice, as media work is now without differences, because journalism is the real foundation for providing decent content, he explained that the world is suffering from a crisis of paper journalism, not a crisis of journalism. If the paper press disappears, the press in general will not disappear, adding that those who face difficult circumstances are those who do not have their tools.

         
   
         

The jury announced that the project of Al-Leila Al-Kabeera magazine won the first place, and the “Vaterina” magazine came in second place, and the prizes were as follows:

In Al-Laila Al-Kabeera magazine: The Art of Investigation: The award for the best journalistic investigation is divided equally between: The investigation of the Renaissance Dam by the two students Aziza Tadros - Aya Mahmoud, the investigation of the drama by the students Rana Ahmed - Radwa Attia - Iman Sharif - Salma Al-Sayed - Ahmed Atef, the investigation of integrity by students Mona Salah - Sherif Abdul Rahman - Nada Al-Ajmi - Nouran Ashraf - Zainab Emad.

The Art of Dialogue: Best Press Dialogue Award: Dialogue by Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity, for Zainab Imad - Nouran Ashraf.

Third Form: Best Third Form Award, Feature Films That Changed Laws by Hadeer Ismail - Sarah Ashraf.
