Ain Shams University’s Adult Education Center Concludes “The Future of Adult Education in the Arab World” Conference to Promote Sustainable Learning Societies
Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa El-Din Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University and Conference Chair, the University’s Adult Education Center concluded its international conference entitled “The Future of Adult Education in the Arab World: Towards Smart and Sustainable Learning Societies.” The conference was held under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Islam El-Saeed, Director of the Center and Conference Rapporteur General, in conjunction with the celebration of International Literacy Day.
Throughout its sessions, the conference witnessed extensive interaction, with the participation of nearly 300 researchers and experts representing 11 Arab countries, who presented in-depth perspectives and research papers exploring the future of adult education in the region.
The conference sessions featured discussions of several distinguished research papers addressing contemporary issues and challenges. Key topics included “The Urgent Need for Human Capacity Building,” “Science Parks and Their Role in Nurturing Talented Individuals,” and “Envisioning the Architecture of Adult Education from Arab Perspectives.” Other research addressed “Dynamic Capabilities as an Approach to Sustainability and Adaptation,” “A Future Vision for Adult Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” the role of “Community Learning Centers in Building Entrepreneurial Societies,” and “The Impact of Adult Education on Sustainable Development.”
The sessions brought together a distinguished group of academics and experts, including Prof. Osama Farrag, Prof. Ashour Omry, Prof. Hanaa Hussein, and Assoc. Prof. Mahmoud Hassan.
The conference concluded with a set of strategic recommendations aimed at bringing about a qualitative transformation in this vital sector. These included restructuring adult education by adopting approaches that respect the cultural specificities of different communities, integrating the concept of dynamic capabilities into strategic planning, and transforming traditional centers into comprehensive community learning centers.
The recommendations also emphasized the importance of establishing effective Arab networks for exchanging expertise and successful practices, empowering educational institutions to lead human resource development, and updating educational policies in line with the philosophy of lifelong learning. They further called for establishing science parks as supportive environments for nurturing talented and creative individuals.
In conclusion, Assoc. Prof. Islam El-Saeed, Conference Rapporteur and Director of the Center, extended his thanks to Prof. Mohamed Diaa El-Din Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, for his patronage and continued support of the event, while commending the valuable contributions of all speakers from Egypt and other Arab countries.
