Ain Shams University Faculty of Law Welcomes the New Academic Year by Exploring Prospects for Establishing a Faculty of Law Branch at Ain Shams National University and Honoring Distinguished Faculty Staff

As part of Ain Shams University Faculty of Law’s commitment to strengthening communication and fostering a culture of appreciation among members of its community, and in celebration of the new academic year, the faculty organized a luncheon at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at the Ain Shams University Guest House, under the patronage of Prof. Yassin El-Shazly, Dean of the Faculty. The gathering aimed to explore prospects for establishing a Faculty of Law branch at Ain Shams National University, honor several distinguished faculty staff, and further strengthen the bonds of friendship and fellowship within the Ain Shams Faculty of Law community.

The initiative reflects the faculty administration’s belief that strong institutions are built not only on hard work and achievement, but also on mutual respect and solidarity, and that strengthening collegial bonds is instrumental in advancing the faculty’s academic and educational mission in a spirit of teamwork.

Embodying these values, the faculty organized the gathering to bring members of the Ain Shams Faculty of Law community together in a warm and collegial atmosphere, fostering stronger bonds among them in a way that positively contributes to the faculty, its mission, and its students.

The gathering also marked the launch of the faculty’s “Reunion” Unit, highlighting its role and importance in strengthening bonds among colleagues, promoting human and social interaction, and fostering a sense of unity that the faculty hopes will remain a hallmark of its longstanding academic community. Gathering around one table reflected the spirit of friendship, mutual respect, and collegiality shared by all.

The gathering was attended by Prof. Yassin El-Shazly, Dean of the Faculty; Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim El-Shafie, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Tarek Zaghloul, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research; a number of former deans and vice deans; as well as professors, faculty staff, teaching assistants, and administrative staff.

The gathering also provided an opportunity to explore prospects for establishing a Faculty of Law branch at Ain Shams National University in accordance with the latest international standards in legal education. The proposed credit-hour programs would offer new academic pathways aligned with the requirements of both local and international labor markets.

In this context, and with the generous support of Prof. Mohamed Abdel Karim Salheen, Vice President of Ain Shams National University for Academic Affairs, Dr. Hesham Kassab, Coordinator of Ain Shams National University, delivered a presentation introducing the University and highlighting its key features and advantages, recent developments, latest facilities and modern infrastructure, academic programs, and the resources and capabilities that enhance its competitiveness in higher education.

As part of the faculty administration’s commitment to recognizing excellence, several faculty staff were honored during the gathering. Dr. Shahinaz Atlam, Lecturer of Public International Law, was honored upon her return to the faculty following the completion of her scientific mission in France, in recognition of her efforts and achievements during the mission. Mr. Mohamed Ibrahim Abdel Khalek, Assistant Lecturer of Commercial Law, was also honored on earning his master’s degree from Harvard Law School, in recognition of his academic and research excellence.

The gathering also included the honoring of faculty members who were recently appointed as lecturers at the faculty:

Dr. Mohamed Naguib – Lecturer of Philosophy and History of Law.

Dr. Maria Timotheos Halim – Lecturer of Private International Law.

Dr. Alaa El-Din Abdel Moneim – Lecturer of Private International Law.

Dr. Osama Hefny – Lecturer of Public Law.

Dr. Nashwa Adel – Lecturer of Criminal Law.

Dr. Ahmed Zoheir – Lecturer of Political Economy.

Dr. Amira Salah – Lecturer of Political Economy.

Dr. Mohamed Hamza – Lecturer of Political Economy.

Dr. Sara Salah – Lecturer of Political Economy.

Dr. Rahma Mohamed Ragab – Lecturer of Civil Law.

Dr. Amira Hamza – Lecturer of Public International Law.

At the conclusion of the gathering, attendees expressed their appreciation for the initiative, which reflects the commitment of Ain Shams University Faculty of Law to supporting its members, celebrating their academic and scholarly achievements, and strengthening communication among all members of the faculty community.

The faculty administration hopes that this gathering will mark the beginning of a sustained series of social initiatives and activities that bring the Ain Shams Faculty of Law community closer together, foster greater cooperation, and contribute to creating an academic environment characterized by mutual respect, collegiality, and integration. Such an environment will positively support the faculty’s academic mission and its role in serving its students, while further strengthening the leadership and excellence of both the Faculty and the University.
