Gold, Silver and Bronze…Ain Shams Champions Make Their Mark in Fencing at Cairo 2026
Ain Shams University continued its outstanding performance at the 12th African University Games, “Cairo 2026,” as its athletes secured three medals in the fencing competitions: one gold, one silver, and one bronze.
The results were as follows:
•Student Youssef Ahmed Shawky claimed first place and the gold medal in the foil event.
•Student Jana Khaled Abu Ghoneim secured second place and the silver medal in the épée event.
•Student Mahmoud Ayman won third place and the bronze medal in the épée event.
These results reflect the outstanding performance of Ain Shams University athletes in the fencing competitions and their ability to compete strongly and reach the podium during the Games.

This achievement comes as part of Ain Shams University’s participation in the 12th African University Games, “Cairo 2026,” represented by the Education and Student Affairs Sector and the General Administration of Youth Welfare, Sports Activities Department, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs.
The University’s participation is coordinated and administratively supervised by Mr. Ibrahim Saeed Hamza, Assistant Secretary-General of the University for the Education and Student Affairs Sector.
