Ain Shams University Wins Four State Awards in 2026
Prof. Youssef Noufal, Professor of Rhetoric and Literary Criticism in the Department of Arabic Language and Literature at the Faculty of Women, has been awarded the 2026 Nile Award for Egyptian Creators in the field of Literature, in recognition of his outstanding academic career and pioneering contributions to literary and critical studies.
Prof. Noufal is regarded as one of the most prominent figures in modern Arab literary criticism and the author of the first comprehensive encyclopedia on modern Arabic poetry. His distinguished academic legacy includes dozens of scholarly books and poetry collections, in addition to supervising hundreds of masters and doctoral theses.
Throughout his career, he has held numerous academic leadership positions, served as a member of several scientific associations and professional organizations, and received many prestigious honors, including the Ain Shams University Appreciation Award and the State Appreciation Award in Literature in 2022.
Prof. Mohamed Shoman is recognized as one of the leading academic figures in media and mass communication studies. He is Professor of Media and Public Opinion at the Faculty of Women, Ain Shams University, and Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Media at the British University in Egypt.
His distinguished academic and professional career spans several decades, during which he has held numerous academic and leadership positions and served as a media consultant to several international organizations. He has authored more than thirty publications in the fields of public opinion, digital media, crisis communication, and the ethics of artificial intelligence, in addition to extensive research and consultancy contributions that have significantly advanced media and communication studies.
In the same context, Prof. Mina Abdel Raouf Ramzy, Professor of Information Retrieval at the Faculty of Arts, received the 2026 State Encouragement Award in the field of Social Sciences (Documentation, Libraries, Museums, and Publishing), in recognition of his distinguished research contributions.
Professor Ramzy is one of the University's distinguished academic and executive leaders. He currently serves as Head of the Central Administration of the Egyptian National Library and Archives, where he has led major digital transformation initiatives and infrastructure modernization projects. His internationally published research spans artificial intelligence, information analysis, and related disciplines.
Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Abdel Fattah, Lecturer of Linguistics at the Faculty of Al-Alsun (Languages), also received the 2026 State Encouragement Award in the field of Literature (Lexicography and Emerging Linguistic Phenomena), in recognition of his significant scholarly contributions to the advancement of linguistic studies.
Dr. Abdel Fattah is widely recognized for his expertise in Arabic lexicography and applied linguistics. He has published numerous specialized research papers, contributed to the Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language Project, and focused extensively on the development of educational dictionaries and their modern applications.
These successive achievements reflect the distinguished caliber of Ain Shams University's academic staff and their outstanding capacity for innovation and scholarly excellence, further reinforcing the University's position as a leading academic institution at both the national and regional levels.
