The President of Ain Shams University joins the Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization in honoring the ASUWind team after their achievement of third place globally in the International Small Wind Turbine Competition
Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Major General Eng. Mokhtar Abdel Latif, Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI), participated in honoring the ASUWind team from the Faculty of Engineering at the AOI headquarters. The ceremony celebrated the team's global achievement of winning third place worldwide in the International Small Wind Turbine Contest (ISTWC), held in the Netherlands from July 7-10, 2026, with the participation of leading universities from around the world.

The ceremony was attended by Major General Eng. Abdel Rahman Abdel Azim Othman, Director General of the AOI; Major General Eng. Mohamed Awad, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Aircraft Factory; Prof. Amr Shaat, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University; as well as members of the supervising academic team and the winning students.
During the ceremony, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen emphasized that this global achievement reflects the distinguished scientific level attained by the students of the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University, and their ability to compete and excel in international forums. He noted that the university places great importance on supporting scientific research and innovation, and providing an environment that enables its students and researchers to transform their ideas into globally competitive projects.
The university president expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Major General Staff Officer Eng. Mokhtar Abdel Latif, Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, for the technical and manufacturing support provided by the organization, which played a pivotal role in the project's success. He explained that the organization's aircraft factory manufactured and produced the turbine blade molds according to the highest standards of quality and precision,

He emphasized that this achievement represents a successful model of partnership between the university and national institutions, stating, "Today, we celebrate a successful national partnership between a university that believes in science and a national body that believes in industry. This partnership has yielded a global achievement that we are all proud of, and we look forward to expanding its horizons in the fields of advanced manufacturing, new and renewable energy, and technological innovation."
For his part, Major General Staff Officer Eng. Mokhtar Abdel Latif, Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, expressed his pride in honoring the research team, affirming that the organization prioritizes supporting innovators and researchers and strives to build effective partnerships with Egyptian universities to transform the outputs of scientific research into industrial applications that contribute to supporting the national economy.
He also praised the scientific and research achievements of Ain Shams University at the regional and international levels, emphasizing the organization's continued commitment to providing various forms of technical, manufacturing, and training support to distinguished researchers and students.
During the ceremony, Engineer Rami Mohamed Awad, representing the ASUWind team, expressed the team's deep appreciation for the support provided by the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI). He emphasized that the manufacturing capabilities and technical expertise provided by the AOI were instrumental in the project's success. He also thanked Ain Shams University and its leadership for their ongoing academic support, which enabled the team to achieve this global milestone.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Major General Staff Officer Eng. Mokhtar Abdel Latif, Chairman of the AOI, honored the members of the supervising academic team: Prof. Adel El Sabbagh, Prof. Tamer El Nady, Prof. Ashraf Mostafa, and Prof. Mahmoud Abdullah. They also presented the ASUWind team members with certificates of appreciation and AOI medals in recognition of their outstanding global achievement.
The Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) presented the organization's shield to Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and to Prof. Amr Shaat, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, in recognition of their role in supporting scientific research and nurturing talented individuals.
