Ain Shams University Wins Two Research Excellence Awards in the “From Research to Impact” Program for Combating Human Trafficking, in the First 2026 Cycle of the Prime Minister’s Fund, in Cooperation with the United Nations Regional Office

Ain Shams University has achieved a new scientific accomplishment, adding to its record of research excellence, with Prof. Sohair Safwat Abdel-Gaid, Professor of Social Theory and Head of the Department of Philosophy and Sociology at the Faculty of Education, winning third place, and Dr. Khaled Qadri, Professor of Business Administration at the university and former Dean of the Faculty of Business, winning fourth place, in the Research Excellence Award for Combating Human Trafficking.

This achievement came as part of the first research competition organized by the Fund for Assisting Victims of Human Trafficking, affiliated with the Prime Minister's Office, in cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. It reflects the university's leading role in supporting scientific research related to priority societal issues.

The Research Excellence Award in Combating Human Trafficking is a pioneering initiative that aims to utilize scientific research in developing national policies and strengthening mechanisms for protecting victims through integrated programs that achieve a sustainable impact at both the societal and humanitarian levels.

For its part, Ain Shams University expressed its great pride in this achievement. Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of the University, Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and the University's Awards Office extended their sincere congratulations to the winners, emphasizing that this recognition reflects the excellence of the faculty staff and the university's leadership in supporting scientific research related to priority societal issues.

Prof. Sohair Safwat Abdel-Gaid is one of the prominent academic figures in the field of sociology, as she has a record full of scientific and research achievements, and has received a number of prestigious awards, including the Dr. Mohamed Shawky El-Fangary Award, the International Award for authoring a book on youth development, the King Abdulaziz Award for Scientific Research, as well as the Gold Medal as an influential figure in social sciences in 2024, and the Scientific Excellence Award for research impact in 2026, in addition to her extensive contributions to national initiatives and cooperation with international organizations.

Prof. Khaled Kadry is a prominent academic leader in the field of business administration, having served as Dean of the Faculty of Business. He boasts a distinguished record of scholarly contributions in performance, crisis, and operations management. He holds a PhD from the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom and is actively involved in community service and supporting industrial sectors.

This achievement underscores Ain Shams University's pioneering role in supporting applied scientific research relevant to societal issues and reinforces its position as a leading academic institution contributing to the formulation of evidence-based national policies that serve the Sustainable Development Goals and address contemporary societal challenges.
