The Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun receives the Ambassador of Cambodia to discuss ways of cooperation

Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University, received His Excellency the Ambassador of the State of Cambodia in Cairo - Ok Saron, in the presence of Prof. Shahira Samir, Director of the University’s International Relations and Academic Collaboration Sector, and Prof. Nasser Abdel-Al, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Youmna Safwat, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Prof. Wajih Yacoub, Head of the Arabic Language Department.

This visit came with the aim of raising the efficiency of teaching the Arabic language to students in Cambodia, and the two sides reviewed possible aspects of cooperation to develop a vision for establishing a faculty for learning the Arabic language in Cambodia in cooperation with the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University.

         
   
         

During her speech, Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, discussed the history of the founding of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, the number of credit hour programs, as well as its capabilities represented in electronic platforms capable of opening horizons of academic cooperation with international universities via Internet networks, which have proven their efficiency during the global Corona pandemic.

She emphasized that the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University has a distinguished program for teaching the Arabic language to non-native speakers, which has the superior capabilities of its specialized staff to teach the Arabic language and its grammar. It contributes to spreading the Arabic language and its uses in various specializations to open bonds of cooperation with various peoples of the world.

During her speech, Prof. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Collaboration Sector, affirmed that the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University is the university’s gateway to meeting world cultures and exporting our Arabic language to students across the world. It possesses within its walls all the world’s languages, speaks to them in their languages, and translates their civilizations, histories, and experiences into Arabic.

   
   

Mr. Ok Saron, the Cambodian Ambassador to Cairo, discussed the history of his country, expressing his aspiration to open more horizons of fruitful cooperation with Ain Shams University, represented by the Faculty of Al-Alsun, with the aim of scientific exchange between the two sides in various specializations, and he stressed that the Arabic language is of interest to a large number of the population of the State of Cambodia, especially with the spread of the Islamic religion in Cambodia. There are also schools for memorizing the Holy Qur’an in Cambodia and teaching students the Arabic language. There is a position similar to the position of the Mufti in Egypt under the auspices of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and Islamic schools under the auspices of the government. This pays great attention to Muslims, who constitute about 5 percent of the population in Cambodia.

In conclusion, Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, handed the Cambodian Ambassador the Faculty Shield in honor of his contribution to opening the horizons of joint cooperation between the two sides and delivered a symposium to students about the history of the State of Cambodia and introduced them to it through the Al-Alsun Portal.
