Opening of the Computational Chemistry and Applications Laboratory at the Faculty of Science

Prof. Mohamed Ragaa Mohamed Elsotohi, Dean of the Faculty of Science at Ain Shams University, opened Quantum Chemistry Computers Laboratory and its applications in the presence of Prof. Ayman Abdel-Azim, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Amani Suleiman, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Mohamed Sabry Ahmed Abdel-Mottaleb, Professor Emeritus, Department of Chemistry, and Prof. Magdy Ahmed, head of the chemistry department at the faculty.

This laboratory is the first of its kind in the Faculty of Science, which provides services to undergraduate and postgraduate students because of its great importance in theoretical chemistry.

The laboratory includes several modern computers equipped with current software to suit the conduct of theoretical chemical experiments.

Prof. Sabry Abdel Mottaleb offered the renewal of this laboratory to the Faculty of Science, and this was not the first gift to the faculty. His sovereignty was gifted before the renewal of the amphitheater of Prof. Entisarat El-Shobaky, which is equipped with the latest projectors to teach students and renovate a lecture hall in the Mathematics Department. And a new meeting hall in the department of chemistry. He also donated 100 modern computers and two servers from His Eminence to provide his alma mater with the latest equipment.

It is reported that Prof. Mohamed Sabry Ahmed Abdel-Mottaleb is an emeritus professor of chemistry at the Faculty of Science at Ain Shams University, who has won many awards in the field of chemistry.

Mohamed  Sabry graduated from the Faculty of Science at Ain Shams University in 1966 AD with an excellent grade with first-class honors. He obtained a Ph.D. in molecular spectroscopy in 1973 AD from Friedrich Schiller University in Germany.

He received the State Encouragement Award in Chemistry in 1984 AD, the First Class Science and Arts Medal in 1985, the State Appreciation Award in Basic Sciences in 2013 AD, and the First Class Sciences and Arts Medal in 2014 AD (for the second time); This is in recognition of his distinguished scientific contributions in the fields of photochemistry, spectroscopy, nanotechnology, solar chemistry, and the environment, and for establishing a scientific school spread in many universities and national research institutions, and for establishing the Photoenergy Center and Solar Nanotechnology Laboratories at Ain Shams University, and for his role in deepening the bonds of international relations by organizing and chairing many conferences Since 1991 AD in the field of photochemistry, solar energy, and the environmental applications, and for his participation in many applied research projects, funded by the European Commission, the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research, and the Egyptian-American Joint Fund.

Among his authorized books are the magnificence of symmetry in chemistry and the magnificence of quantum chemistry calculations and their applications (www.hindawy.org).
