Within the framework of the cultural season for the year 2021/2022, the Middle East Research and Future Studies Center held a lecture entitled “Egyptian National Security and its Relationship to Western Threat Theories and Generations of War” under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metni, President of the University, and Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President of the University and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Center, Colonel Hatem Saber, expert in combating international terrorism and Head of University Security at Ain Shams University, gave a lecture on it. The lecture was commented on by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Wahab, Professor of Modern and Contemporary History at the Faculty of Arts, Ain Shams University and Head of the History Division at the Centre. The lecture was moderated by Prof. Dr. Ashraf Mouns, Director of the Center.

The lecture was opened by Prof. Dr. Ashraf Mounis, Director of the Center, welcoming the honorable attendees. At the beginning of his speech, he noted the importance of the topic of the lecture due to the many threats and grave challenges that surround Egypt. Egypt has always been a target since ancient times, when the Hyksos and Tatars colonized it, the Crusades, the Ottoman occupation, and finally the movement Zionism and its partners.

Targeting of Egypt is happening due to several reasons, including:

The geographical location in the heart of the world and the genius of the place.

Population demographic composition.

Its richness in natural resources, solar energy sources, oil and gas, and the various equations.

Its richness in various water resources, including fresh water resources represented in the Nile River, lakes and salt water represented in the Red and Mediterranean Bahrain.

In his speech, Prof. Ashraf pointed out many challenges and threats facing Egypt today, including the Zionist enemy, which always seeks to harm Egyptian interests, and there is also Turkey, which is trying hard to restore the glories of the Ottoman Empire and its hegemony over the countries of the region, in addition to the challenges of the fourth and fifth generation wars, which It is represented in the information war and modern technology that aims to occupy the minds, not the land.

After all of the above, Prof. Dr. Moanes stressed the need to raise young people's awareness of the types of modern threats that target them in the first place and how to confront and confront them in order to preserve Egyptian national security.

Following the speech of Dr. Mounis’s, Colonel Hatem Saber reviewed the topic of the lecture, explaining the concept of national security, which is the state’s ability to protect its entity from threats that come from outside or within it, protect its values, preserve its identity, and confront challenges and threats. He then proceeded to list the types of wars in all its generations, from first-generation wars to fourth-generation wars, rely on information and modern technology to falsify the general political awareness of the targeted peoples to serve Western interests in the Middle East.

After Colonel Hatem Saber finished the lecture, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdel-Wahhab commented on it, stressing the need to manage Western and Zionist conspiracy theories that aim at the fragmentation of the Arab peoples and their division into several small and weak states. Which is used as a scarecrow to distract the attention of the countries of the region from the real enemy represented by the Zionist Israeli state and the American and Western agendas that are working hard to achieve the "New Middle East", which inevitably calls for the need to absorb the type of modern threats that aim to undermine the pillars of the Arab peoples so that we can confront It is also necessary to trust the political leadership that works for the benefit of the country always and forever.

At the end of the lecture, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Munis presented certificates of honor to Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Wahab and Colonel Hatem Saber in appreciation of their outstanding efforts and valuable information that enriched the lecture.
