The Faculty of Archeology, Ain Shams University is preparing to start the first democratic university experiments for students of its first batch by opening the door for nomination, withdrawing and submitting forms for the student union council elections today, Thursday 18/11/2021, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University , Prof. Dr. Abdel-Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mamdouh Al-Damaty, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Hossam Tantawy, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Tamer Al-Assal, Director of Student Welfare.

Prof. Dr. Mamdouh Al-Damaty stated that the faculty administration has completed the necessary arrangements for holding the elections according to the schedule announced by the university and has formed a supreme committee to supervise the elections, and to provide fair competitive environment so that students can choose their representatives in the Student Union with a free will, considering the necessary precautionary measures to confront Corona, and the faculty was keen to invite students to the necessity of participation and not to lag.

Prof. Dr. Hossam Tantawy, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, added that one of the most important objectives of student unions, according to what was stated in the financial and administrative regulations for university student unions, issued by Ministerial Resolution No. 352 of 2019 and published in the Egyptian Gazette on January 31, 2019 AD, is the development of spiritual and moral values ​​and national awareness among students, to trainin them on leadership and giving them the opportunity to express their opinions, discovering and refining student leaders, in addition to students’ talents and abilities in various fields, providing them with methods of sound democratic practice, organizing and activating sports, social, artistic and cultural activities, and benefiting from the students’ energies and employing them in community service.

Mr. Tamer Al-Assal, Director of Student Welfare, explained that the university’s announced schedule for the student union elections for the academic year 2021/2022 extends from Thursday 18/11/2021 until Thursday 2/12/2021AD, and that the university, in order to complete the electoral process, has set specific timings for sending reports Detailed and illustrated from beginning to end, and that the conditions for nomination and voting this year include submitting a proof that the student has received the anti-Coronavirus vaccine in addition to the conditions mentioned in the aforementioned regulation.
