For the first time at Ain Shams University... 50 talking laptops distributed to visually impaired students in the presence of the Minister of Social Solidarity and the Vice President for Education and Student Affairs

In a first of its kind initiative at Ain Shams University, and within the framework of ongoing cooperation between the university and the Ministry of Social Solidarity, Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity, distributed 50 talking laptops to visually impaired students at Ain Shams University. This was part of a ceremony to distribute a number of assistive devices to university students with disabilities at the ministry headquarters, in a step aimed at supporting them academically and facilitating the educational process, thereby enhancing their opportunities for integration and empowerment within the university community.

         
   
         

The event was attended by Prof. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs; Mr. Hassan Ghanem, CEO and Managing Director of the Housing and Development Bank; Mr. Ayman Abdel Mawgoud, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry; Dr. Mohamed El-Akaby, Assistant Minister of Social Solidarity and General Supervisor of the Social Solidarity Units Project in Universities; Ms. Gihan El-Gouli; and Dr. Samar Ragab, Director of the University's Center for Serving Students with Disabilities.

This comes within the framework of the cooperation protocol between the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the Housing and Development Bank to support and empower university students with disabilities from vulnerable families and beneficiaries of the Takaful and Karama cash assistance program through the Social Solidarity Units Project within Egyptian universities.

For his part, Prof. Rami Maher Ghali praised the role of the Ministry of Social Solidarity in supporting vulnerable groups, commending the efforts of the university social solidarity units in serving students, enhancing their social awareness, and providing a comprehensive package of support services to the university community.

         
   
         

The Vice President of the University affirmed that Ain Shams University places great importance on supporting and empowering students with disabilities, stemming from its belief in their right to equal educational opportunities. He noted the university's commitment to the continuous development of support services and programs, contributing to a more inclusive and accessible learning environment. He also praised the vital role played by the university's Students Disability Service Center in this regard.

Dr. Samar Rajab confirmed that the Center for Serving Students with Disabilities continues its efforts to provide academic, technical and technological support to students and their families, and to work to overcome the obstacles and challenges that they may face, in order to enhance their ability to complete their educational journey efficiently and effectively, and to support their full integration into university life.

This event was held as part of a joint initiative between Ain Shams University and the Ministry of Social Solidarity, under the administrative supervision and general coordination of Mr. Ibrahim Saeed Hamza, Assistant Secretary of the University for Education and Student Affairs, to enhance cooperation and support the university community.

The coming period is expected to witness the launch of several joint initiatives, which will contribute to expanding the scope of services provided and achieving greater empowerment and care for eligible groups.
