Sports in ancient Egypt:
The ancient Egyptian took the lead in establishing the principles of positive and sound education in the upbringing and preparation of the young individual. To be a beneficial individual for himself and his society, by following a healthy educational approach based on children’s health care, interest in physical education from a young age, and the sustainability of practicing sports at different age stages, so he practiced violent sports that required effort, skill, and arduous exercise in their performance, and therefore these games were limited to young people only. This sport was played by amateurs and professionals, so it varied between wrestling, boxing, weight-bearing, fencing, hunting and rowing, in addition to easy sports that both sexes could practice such as equestrian, running, high jump, swimming and gymnastics in addition to mental games, and thus, just as he proved to mankind his superior reverence for work, he at the same time enjoyed an enlightened personality, lover of life and willing to entertain himself after hard working times, so he sought to create various sports methods in which he practiced his activities and hobbies in which all individuals and classes of ancient Egyptian society participated, kings and princes, nobles, the general public, young and old, men and women, which saved times of participation and the sustainability of the bonds of affection between family members and members of society and create an atmosphere of happiness and peace.

Sports day at the Faculty of Archeology:
In conjunction with the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, which is celebrated annually on April 6, the Faculty of Archeology launched a sports day, in which male and female students, faculty staff, and administrators participate in various sports such as: running, chess, table tennis, and soccer. speed, etc.; In celebration of this day and in affirmation of what the United Nations has decided regarding that sport is an inherent right and a powerful tool for strengthening social bonds, promoting sustainable development, peace, solidarity and respect; And to enhance the role of sport in social inclusion, combating prejudice against women, minorities, and persons with disabilities in general, and the Faculty community and its employees in particular, under the auspices and directions of Prof. Hossam Tantawi, Dean of the Faculty, and the organization of Mrs. Gehan Ahmed Nageeb, Acting Director of Student Welfare.
